Mrs. Mary Stier Dead After Short Illness - Mrs. Mary Stier, wife of Louis Stier and a life-long resident of the Tice community, died at her home four and a half miles southeast of this city at 7:15 Thursday evening, March 7 at the age of 71 years. She was ill only a short time, suffering from influenza and complications. Mrs. Stier was born on the farm on which she died, on October 22, 1868, the daughter of Henry B. and Nanke Luken Jacobs. Living there with her parents until she married to Louis Stier, and upon the death of her father and mother, they continued to live in the house in which she was born. She is survived by her husband and a number of nieces and nephews, all the members of her immediate family having preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in this city at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. B.H. Selcke and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harmon Winkelmann, August Wilde, Edward Klingbeil, Louis Winkelman, Fletcher Terry and John Cassens.
