Mrs. Samantha Suhm is Dead at Eighty-nine
Mrs. Samantha Isabella Suhm, eighty-nine years old, died Thursday, May 17 at a hospital in Manteno, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Suhm, widow of the late W.M. Suhm, had lived in Petersburg almost forty years.

She was a native of Ohio, having been born in Guernsey county on April 17, 1857, the daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Edwards. She was married in 1884 to W.M. Suhm, who died here in 1920. To them were born seven children: Lenora, who died in infancy; Fred M. of Petersburg; Giles L., who died in 1919; Mrs. Jessica Jorgenson of Unalaska, Alaska; Rev. Harold D. Suhm of Belchertown, Mass.; J. Dwight of Gary Ind.; Mrs. Wayne Campbell of Decatur. Besides the children named above, she is survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Horace G. Edwards of Willshire, Ohio, the last of a family of ten.

Mrs. Suhm became a member of the Methodist church while yet a child and became a member of the Petersburg church thirty-six years ago and was active in the church's affairs for many years, until advancing years made it impossible.

The remains were brought to the Satorius Funeral Home here and services were held at the Methodist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A.E. Linfield. Burial was in Rose Hill, pallbearers being Roy Nance, Fred Claussen, Edward Claussen, Lawley E. Albert, P.A. Batterton and Roy Campbell.
