Death of Comrade Wheeler
Passed Away at Fresno, Calif., on Monday, May 8. Buried here Wednesday.
William R. Wheeler, was born in Kentucky, May 6, 1840, and was a resident of Petersburg, Ill., for several years. He died of heart trouble, with only a few hours illness in Fresno, Cal., Monday, May 8, 1911, aged 71 years and 2 days. He is survived by four children, Mrs. W.C. Wiseman, Frank M. Wheeler and Alex Wheeler, all of Springfield, and W.J. Wheeler of Sand Point, Idaho. He was a veteran of the Civil War, enlisting in 1861, in Co. A, 21st Ill. Inf. He was a member of Estill Post No. 7 G.A.R. department of Ill.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. church in this city, Wednesday last at 2 p.m. by Dr. W.F. Gillmore and the burial was at Rose Hill cemetery.
