Will of Ida Bale

I, Ida Bale, of Petersburg, Illinois, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament, and do hereby revoke any and all former wills by me heretofore made.

FIRST. I direct that all of my just debts and funeral expenses be paid.

SECOND. I give and bequeath to my brother, Cabanis Bale, all of my house hold goods, furniture, and personal effects in and about my home to have and to hold the same absolutely and forever.

THIRD. I will and direct that my executor hereinafter named, as soon as possible after my death or as soon as possible after the death of my brother, Cabanis Bale, as hereafter explained, and within two years after the later of the two aforesaid events, shall sell and convert into cash all of my property of every kind and character, real, personal and mixed, wheresoever situated and after payments of my debts, funeral expenses and costs of the settlement of my estate, I give and bequeath the proceeds thereof in cash as follows:

One-third to my First cousins who may be living at the time of the distribution of my estate.

One-third to the Memorial Hospital of Springfield, Illinois, for general purposes of the hospital and a receipt from the Treasurer or other officer shall be a sufficient discharge thereof.

One-third to the County Commissioners of Menard County, Illinois, for the use of the rest home "Sunny Acres" with my wish to them, the Commissioners, that it be used in some way for the additional comfort or please of those then living there. A receipt from said commissioners will be a sufficient discharge therefore.

FOURTH If my brother, Cabanis Bale, be living at my death, I direct my said executor hold my estate open and not sell and convert into cash my estate until after the death of said Cabanis Bale, and then do so on his death as aforesaid; and during the life as aforesaid of Cabanis Bale, to invest my estate and keep the same safely and securely invested, collect the rents from my farm land and tenantable condition and permit my brother, Cabanis Bale, to use the same as his home for his lifetime, and to otherwise manage and control my estate as the case may require or arise; and to pay the net yearly income or proceeds thereof to or for the use of my brother, Cabanis Bale. It is further directed and hereby provided that my said executor is authorized to use all or any part of my estate by converting it into cash, and using the same for the benefit of or distribution to or for the use of Cabanis Bale, if, in the sole discretion of said executor, the same becomes necessary or adviseable for the welfare of my said brother during his lifetime.

FIFTH If give to my executor hereinafter named, full power and authority to sell at public or private sale all real estate and personal property owned by me at the time of my decease, and to execute and deliver all deeds or other instruments of transfer necessary to effect the sale thereof.

SIXTH I nominate and appoint Roy T. Carmen of Petersburg, Illinois, my sole executor of this, my last will and testament; and in the case of his inability or refusal to so act or to continue to so act, then I appoint Elmer Brunen as said sole executor.

The foregoing instrument was subscribed, sealed and published and declared by Ida Bale, the testator, as and for her last will and testament in our presence and in the presence of each of us, and we, at the same time and place, at her request and in her presence, and in the presence of each other, hereunto subscribed out names as attesting witnesses theto the day and year last above written.
