CAROLINE HETTINGER SCHAUB
BELOVED LADY DIES IN NEW YORK AT THE AGE OF 81

Mrs. Caroline Schaub was born on May 10, 1843 in Mauer, Germany, and died at the home of her son, G.A. Schaub, 400 Barrington St., Rochester, New York, on Tuesday, August 12, 1924, age 81 years, 3 months and 2 days. Her husband, August Schaub, preceded her in death 16 years ago.

The following children survive: Gus A. Schaub of Rochester, New York; Henry Schaub, Mrs. Fred Wild and Mrs. John Kanzler, of Pinkneyville, Illinois.

"Grandma" Schaub was a consciencious Christian, ever bearing testimony to that fact in her daily walk of life. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Church for over fifty years. Some of the happiest moments were spent in doing good for others. She was loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. Fritz at the St. Paul's Evangelical church Friday morning, August 15, 1924. Interment in Mueller Hill Cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral of Mrs. Caroline Schaub last Friday were. Mr. and Mrs. Gus Schaub, of Rochester, New York; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Alexander and sons, of Hurst, Mr and Mrs. John Wild of Marion;
Mr. and Mrs. J. Beardon, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wild and children of Carbondale; Mr. and Mrs. H. Piltz and children of Murphysboro, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zoller, of Vergennes.

AUGUST SCHAUB
AGED CITIZEN PASSED AWAY

August Schaub was born in Rusheim Baden, Germany, August 4th, 1833. Came to this country in 1854, making his home in Sandusky, Ohio. From there he went to St. Louis and then to Waterloo, IL in 1856.

He was married to Susannah Schroeder April 26, 1856 at Waterloo, where they resided until 1876, when coming to Pinckneyville to reside.

Last May he had a slight stroke of paralysis. With his wife, he moved to Murphysboro last summer, where he was manager of the Southern Illinois Milling(?) Cooperage Co. Mr. Schaub came up from Murphysboro a week ago and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Amelia Wilt Thursday morning at 7 o'clock.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, two daughters, Mesdames, Amelia Wilt and Hannah Kanzler, two sons, Henry of our city, and Gustava of Rochester, N.Y.

Five sons have passed to their heavenly home years ago.

Fourteen grandchildren also mourn the loss of grandfather. Funeral services will be held at the Lutheran Evangelical church Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Bender. Interment at Mueller's cemetery.
