St. Patricks Cemetery Header

First Catholic Cemetery in Peoria County
1839

Lazarist Missionaries maintained a mission in the building now persevered as St. Patrick's Church, which is adjacent to the old cemetery.
The place was ordered built and the order of the authority signed by Bishop of the Irish people, Aug. 4, 1839.

In the West side of this cemetery is a beautiful Grotto that add beauty and reverence to this sacred ground, more than a century old.  The plaque below the cross reads, "In
Memory of the Hanlons and Mulvaneys."

 

  
 

 


 

Driving Directions:
From the City of Peoria, drive West on INTERSTATE 74 to the Kickapoo exit.
At the stop sign, turn right & drive 1 mile to the center of Kickapoo. Turn left.
Cemetery is on the right behind the church.
