GRAND OPERA HOUSE

Destroyed by fire on December 14, 1909
MAJESTIC THEATER

212 SW Jefferson

Later WMBD TV/Radio Station. Jefferson Bldg added a portion fronting Liberty St., thus changing the marquee in the 1930's
ADITORIUM THEATER

323 SW Adams

Destroyed by fire May 6, 1901
NICKELODEON THEATER

Was located in the 100 block NE Adams

 
EMPRESS THEATER

415 Main St.

The building is still standing. Entrance was at the corner of the 2nd story building next to the Lehmann Bldg.
Auditorium was razed in 1963.
ORPHEUM THEATER

144-6 NE Madison.

Opened to the public in 1911 and operated for 16 years.
Closed in 1927 and razed in 1930.
LYCEUM THEATER

328 Fulton St.

Razed in 1960
DUCHESS THEATER

309 SW Adams

Razed in 1930
LIBERTY THEATER

329 SW Adams

Later became the Rex Camera business.
Razed for the Current Civic Center.
PRINCESS THEATER

229 SW Adams

Razed in the late 1950's
COLUMBIA THEATER

209 SW Adams

Razed in 1953
CRESCENT THEATER

311 Main St.

Neighbors included Welt & Wieting Optical (307 Main), Charles C. Adams & Co. (309 Main - downstairs)
Upstairs: Vose Pianoes- circa 1920
APOLLO THEATER

313 Main St.

Opened in the early 1920's. Building was originally the Lawyers Bldg with Apollo auditorium in center. Neighbors included: Gately's Cigar (1920), Mulford Clothing Store (W. side of theater) and Nash Photo Studios. The Building has been restored and is still standing (2001).
PASTIME THEATER

517 Main St.

Neighbors: Phoenix Hotel & Rooms (1918)
HIPPODROME THEATER

213 SW Jefferson

Later became know as THE RAILTO Theater. Razed in 1981 to make way for the Twin Tower Highrise.
AVERYVILLE THEATER

3004 NE Adams

Razed in 1966
AVON THEATER

2200 block of SW Adams

Originally known as THE IMPERIAL THEATER.
In the 1970's, it became known as THE CIRCUS.
WARNER THEATER

1201 SW Adams

Streetcars had stopping points near the theater.
STAR THEATER

Destroyed by fire May 30, 1929
COLISEUM THEATER

VARSITY THEATER

Since WWII, razed in the 1980's
OLD ELISIUM THEATER

1113 W. Main St.

When it closed the building became Strapp Electric Co. and finally the Pink Closet Shop.
PALACE THEATER

400 block Main St.

Razed to make way for the Twin Towers project.
MADISON THEATER

501 Main St.

Currently Standing (2001) and is a comedy club. Auditorium is intact. Opened Oct. 16, 1920
THE TABERNACLE THEATER

Corner of Globe & Hamilton St.

Popular Corn Carnival held here from 1880's through 1905.
AL FRESCO AMUSEMENT PARK

N.Galena Rd.

Extremely Popular at the turn of the Century. Noted nationally for its Roller Coaster. Destroyed by fire in 1925.
