Of the seven men who pioneered their way to Peoria and pitched their tent against one side of old Fort Clark, in the early spring of 1819, only one is left. That one is the venerable Josiah Fulton, who, from that time to the present, has maintained a home within the sight of the ground now covered by the busy city of Peoria.
Untied States Marshall J. W. Arnold today opened the October term of
the United States Court for the Peoria District, but on account of Judge
Grosscup's illness and adjournment was taken to Nov. 6.

An individual called at Mr. Martin’s harness-shop, in Peoria, a few
days since, and left a basket for Mrs. M., and then immediately
disappeared.
Upon examination, the basket was found to contain a new-born infant. [Illinois

appointed Surveyor General for the Territory of Oregon.
