Mrs. Lizzie Hord Summoned from earth's labors

The following lines are sent by a bereaved daughter
to the old home paper Muskogee, Okla.

Lizzie Williams Hord died January 6, 1920, after a
few days illness. She leaves to survive her a husband,
T. L. Hord, and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie McMullan
and Miss Kate Younkin, both of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Deceased was born and raised in DuQuoin, Ill., and
from an old and well known family. She has two sisters
and one brother surviving, who are M. T. Williams of
Medicine Lodge, Ken; Mrs. L. M. Jones of Kansas City,
Mo.; and Mrs. Rena Smith of Wichita, Kan.

Lizze Williams Hord was born in Du Quoin July 1, 1849,
her parents living out on the farm near St. Johns, and
where she taught school several terms. Her father,
Billie Williams died when she was 14 years of age,
leaving her mother and children behind----and mother
lived for many years on this old homestead, her maiden
name being Martha Heape. Mrs. Hord never forgot her
old home in Du Quoin. She went back there often. She
made a trip to Du Quoin and Murphysboro this fall and
was only home three weeks when she died. She lived
in Murphsboro for many years, but the last eight years
has been living in Muskogee, where her daughter,
Mrs. Joseph McMullan lives. She and her single
daughter----who is a telegraph operator----with the
husband, lived together, but was taken ill at her
married daughter's. She had been ailing for
sometime, but did not seem serious. She died with
dysentery, which is going around now, called
"flu of the bowels."

She was buried January 8th. Interment in the
Green Hill Cemetery, Muskogee. M.T. Williams
got here in time for the funeral. The two sisters were
unable to come. Now I have given you a short sketch
of mother's family. You will remember mother-Martha
Williams, who lived there and died there, a devoted
member of the Christian Church. Mamma has one
brother, Hamp Williams, dead, his family living at
Christopher now, where she visited this fall. Please
have Murphysboro and Carbondale papers copy.
We are all heart-broken. Aunt Emma Jones of Kansas
City had you send her the Du Quoin Paper. Her first husband was a railroad contractor,
Laurence Sandford, who is Mrs. McMullan's father.
Miss Younkin, who is myself, was by her second husband.
Please notify her friends and relatives in the paper as
soon as possible.

Mother was a member of the Christian Church.
