Cutler Lady Dies Here
Mrs Elizabeth Hill Stricken With Paralysis
While Visiting Son Here

Mrs Elizabeth Hill died at the home of her son, Manford Hill; in this city, Saturday morning after an illness of two weeks. Mrs Hill came here two weeks ago to visit the family of her son and receive medical attention. On Sunday morning, the 19th, she was stricken with paralysis and her condition grew steadily worse until death came.

Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. Church of Cutler, Sunday, July 26 at one o'clock, by Rev.Jackson of Steeleville, assisted by Rev. Lawrence of U. P. Church and Rev. Chestnut of Marissa.

A large concourse of friends and relatives followed the remains to the Mound Cemetery north of Cutler, where interment took place at 2:30 P.M. The family has the sympathy of the entire community.

Deceased was married to John Martyn at the age of 23 years and to this union were born two children, John E. Martyn and Mrs. Martha McIlrath, who still survive their mother.
After a few years of married life Mr. Martyn died. After two years of widowhood his widow was married to Robert Hill of St. Clair Co., IL. and to this union were born two children, the eldest dying in infancy and the younger Robert Manford Hill, now living in Pinckneyville. She is also survived by two stepsons, Doras and Samuel Hill, both of whom reside near Denmark.

About twenty years ago Mrs Hill was converted and joined the Free Baptist church, of which she was a consistent member until the time of her death, except for about four years she had by letter become amember of the M. E. Church of Cutler and afterward returning to the Baptist church.
Mrs Hill was a member of the Daughters of Rebekah and also a member of the W.C.T.U. of Cutler. She was a consistent Christian, always ready to lend a helping hand to the needy and always ready to speak words of comfort to the sorrowing.

The deceased also leaves two sisters, Mrs Louisa Quick of Gilman, IL. and Mrs. Emeline Browning of Cutler; two brothers, George Phillips of Belleville and Wm. Phillips of Centralia. She leaves fifteen grandchildren.
