Virgil D. Schimpf, 75, of 601 Halliday Ave., Du Quoin, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday,Aug. 13, 1991,
at Fair Acres Nursing Home in DuQuoin.
Mr. Schimpf was retired from Turco Manufacturing Co. of DuQuoin and was a retired trucker for Air Mite Co.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was born April 28, 1916, in Vergennes, Ill., the son of Bastian and Ida (Becker) Schimpf.
He married Agnes E. Rosenberger on Feb. 9, 1937, at Ava, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Charles D. Schimpf and wife, Joyce, of DuQuoin; two daughters, Mary Ann Hunleth
and husband, Dr. Frank Hunleth, of St. Louis, Mo., and June A. Gotta and husband, Joseph Gotta,of Charlotte, N.C.;
one sister, Lillian Smith and husband, Charles Smith, of Pinckneyville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral Mass will be Saturday, Aug. 17, 1991, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin,
with Father Steve Humphrey officiating.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart School endowment fund.
