Pinckneyville Man Collapses While Playing Pool, Dies
Gregory Dean Bergfeld, 24, of Pinckneyville was pronounced dead at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, 1984, at the Pinckneyville hospital. Bergfeld had collapsed while playing a game of pool at the Cutler Corral about an hour and half earlier. He was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, and emergency technicians tried unsuccessfully to save his life. Perry County Coroner Frank Maxton said an autopsy showed that Bergfeld had aneurysm in an artery at the base of the brain which ruptured. Maxton also said the matter is still under investigation, and an inquest will be held at a later date. Gregory Dean Bergfeld was born December 21, 1959 in Pinckneyville to Everett and Mary Louise Kellerman Bergfeld. He is survived by his parents, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Schott of Steeleville; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kellerman of Pinckneyville; one sister, Debbie McIntyre of Swanwick; one brother, Jeffery of Pinckneyville; one nephew and two nieces. Services were held Monday, April 23, 1984, at the Pyatt Funeral Home in Pinckneyville. Burial was in Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
