Lucy Elizabeth Cawthorne, 89, 522 S. Washington, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday in Marshall Browning Hospital.

      A lifelong resident of Du Quoin, she was born Sept. 8, 1879, to Willard and Mary Amanda (Dunavan) Thing. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Len Cawthrone, whom she married Sept. 2, 1915; a daughter; two sisters; a brother and a nephew.

      A member of the First Baptist Church, and the Pocahontas Lodge 184, she is survived by two nephews, Maurice Thing and Herbert Moody.

      Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Neal Memorial Chapel with Rev. W. T. Branon officiating. Interment will be in Old Du Quoin Cemetery.
