Lillian L. Chappell, 85, of Swanwick, died Tuesday, September 16, 1986 at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in Nashville.

      She was a member of Winkle Baptist Church and the Swanwick's Ladies Sewing Club.

      She was born near Makanda March 18, 1901 to Rueben and Myra Keller Wheeles.

      She married Clarence Chappell August 1920. He preceded her in death April 11, 1963.

      She is survived by two sons, Ben of Tamaroa and Michael of Mehlville, Missouri; two daughters, Myra Bishop of Jennings, Missouri and Geneva McIntyre of Swanwick; seven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

      She was also preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers, William, Hardy, herman, Ben, Louis, Minor and Walter Wheeles and Harvey Jones and one sister, Nieda Legendre.

      Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 19, 1986 at the Winkle Baptist Church with Rev. James Mathenia officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery in Swanwick.
