Funeral Services Thursday
For Charles Oliver George

      Funeral services for Charles Oliver George, 76, of 121 N. Maple St., will be conducted Thursday, at 2 p.m. from Neal Memorial Chapel with interment in Old Du Quoin Cemetery. Mr. George died Monday in Marshall Browning Hospital. He had been in failing health several years.

      Visitation is at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

      Born in Du Quoin January 22, 1906, he was the son of the late Hugh and Ada Mae (Ogilivie) George. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby George. A lifetime resident of the area, he was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church and before retirement, was employed at the Du Quoin Packing Company.

      Surviving are four stepsons, Pete Gant of Dowell, Earl Gant of Du Quoin, Larry Gant of Chicago and Junior Kennedy of Du Quoin; a stepdaughter, Dora Scarber of Du Quoin; two brothers, Eugene George and Harley George of Kankakee; a sister, Thelma Whittington of Du Quoin; a half brother, Henry Williams of Douglas, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

      Besides his parents and wife, two sistes and four brothers preceded him in death.
