Mrs. Grace B. Higgerson, 80, of Denmark, died Tuesday, May 4, 1982 at her home in Denmark.

      Mrs. Higgerson was born July 12, 1901 in the Campbell Hill area, a daughter of Simon and Emma (Sandusky) Cottom. She was married to John N. Higgerson August {hole in obituary}. He preceded her in death October 29, 1966.

      She is survived by one, Lawrence E. Higgerson, of Granite City; one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Kettler of Belleville; two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Higgerson of Pinckneyville, Mrs. Ruth Bultimier of Ava and four brothers, Bill Cottom of Maquoin, Walter Cottom of Campbell Hill, Earl Cottom of Knoxville, TN and Harold Cottom of Oneida; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one daughter; one infant daughter; one sister and three half sisters.

      Funeral services were held Friday, May 7 at 1 p.m. under the auspices of the McDaniel Funeral Home, at the Denmark Baptist Church with Rev. Legree Finch officiating. Interment will be at the Cottom Cemetery.
