Swanwick -- Charles Russel Mason, 70, Swanwick, died Saturday, May 26, at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
A son of the late Robert and Alvira (Sturdivant) Mason. He was born February 18, 1920, at Swanwick. On May 4, 1942, he was married at Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Addie Mae Blaise. She survives. Besides his wife he is survived by five daughters, Flora Mae Brawley of Cutler, Barbara Staats of Springfield and Sandy Mason, Nilma (Shorty) Smith and Addie Mae Mason, all of Swanwick; one brother, John Mason of Pinckneyville; two sisters, Aloma Hoepker of Addieville, and Mary Ann Mason of Salem; nine grandchildren; and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson. Mr. Mason was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Operating Engineers, Local 520, at Mitchell. Funeral services, with the Rev. David Guthrie officiating, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the King Funeral Home in Coulterville. Burial was in the Swanwick Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
