WILLISVILLE -- Julia Snider Melville, 88, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, December 11, 1995, in Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve McKown officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Percy. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Steeleville, and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be to the Bronte Rieckenberg trust fund. Mrs. Melville retired from Brown Shoe Co., in Steeleville, and retired as a licensed practical nurse from Sparta Community Hospital. She was a member of Missionary Baptist Church, where she had been treasurer and pianist. She was a member and reservationist for the Senior Citizens Gold Plate program, contributed to the Willisville News for Senior Citizens and was an avid quilter, Sunday School Teacher and training union director. She was born December 22, 1906, in Campbell Hill to William and Mary (Luthy) Snider. She married Henry Heine on March 29, 1924, in Murphysboro. She married Ralph Melville on January 27, 1944, in Blytheville, Ark. He died May 20, 1963. Survivors include seven daughters, Marie Heine Tanner of Cutler, June Heine Howard and Judy Melville Rieckenberg, both of Willisville, Neola Heine Blair of East Moline, Vivian Melville McCrary and Karen Melville Ramsey, both of Steeleville, and JoAn Melville Lindsey of Carbondale; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Yvonne Russell of Green Valley, Ariz.; and four sisters-in-law. Her parents, two sons, Henry Heine, Jr. and Charles Melville, five brothers, three sisters and three sons-in-law preceded her in death.
