Eva May Smith, 78, widow of Edward S. (Bill) Smith, of rural Cutler died at her home August 21. Her death was sudden.

      Mrs. Smith was born in Perry County Illinois, May 29, 1908, the daughter of Fred and Susan Florence (Short) Schupbach. She was united in marriage in Pinckneyville January 15, 1929 to Edward S. Smith and he preceded her in death January 6, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father and step-mother, Anna Elizabeth; six brothers and sisters.

      She was a member of the Denmark Baptist Church.

      Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Florence Luthy of Campbell Hill; three brothers, Fred, Marion and Charles Schupbach, all of Sparta and several nieces and nephews.

      Funeral services were held at the Denmark Baptist Church, Saturday, August 23 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ted Minnich officiating. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery at Percy, Pyatt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
