Funeral Services to be Held Sunday at Baptist Church
Mrs. Cora Bell[e] Porter, wife of Tom Porter, died this morning
at 5:45 at their home, 721 East Harrison Street.
Cora Belle Logan was born December 13, 1871, at
Smothersville, Ill., the daughter of Reuben and Anna
Guthrie Logan. She was first married at Coulterville, Ill.,
in 1889 to George Chorpenning, who died at Oakdale
on March 1, 1919.
She came to Washington in 1923, and her marriage
to Tom Porter took place on November 13, 1924.
Mrs. Porter was a member of the Baptist Church....
Besides her husband she is survived by six sons,
James, Reuben, Ralph, Earl, Melvin, and Russell C.
horpenning, all of Washington community, and one
daughter, Mrs. Harry Anderson, also of Washington;
a son died in infancy; one brother, Bert Logan of
Pinckneyville, Ill., three sisters, Mrs. Will Marlowe,
Mrs. Will Brayfield, both of Tamaroa, Ill., and Mrs.
W.M. Williamson, of Pinckneyville, Ill. and 12
grandchildren. One brother, James B. Logan,
and a grandchild are deceased.
