Miss Lillian McCallister has been employed to teach mathematics and vocation in the Fairbury High school, the term to begin AUg. 28. She finished her classes at the University of Illinois Aug. 12 and is to receive her master's degree in October. Lillian is the daughter of Mrs. Carl Day of Barry and the late Lewis McCallister.
The Mervin Martin and Russell McKinney families attended a family gathering and dinner at the Will Martin home at Fish Hook Sunday and the Virgil Martin family attended a birthday dinner in Maylis honoring Mrs. Fred Martin.
Miss Gladys Smith, who stays at Joe Gay's was home a few days nursing a sore hand the past week having caught it in an electric fan.
Misses Alma Myers and Emma Jane Leeper entertained several y oung folks at a party at the Sears home Saturday night.
Mrs. Mary Welch of Springfield spent the weekend at the L.O. Gay home with her daughter, Pauline.
Miss Dorothy Smith is visiting relatives in Springfield.
The Methodist Sunday school held its annual picnic at the Ator Spring Thursday afternoon.
The E.T.C. club met with Mrs. Ethel Hyde and Mrs. Eva Gay at the Hyde home Friday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Mert Fesler and Mrs. Julia Wassell were in Quincy Thursday.
Mrs. I.J. Lewis entertained at dinner Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lewis and son, Ellis. Mrs. J.R. Ogle and three children in honor or Ellis' birthday. June 29 was the birthday of Mrs. Ogle and Miss June Lewis, who is here from Macomb spending the weekend and the families all celebrated the birthdays with ice cream and cake at the Ogle home Saturday evening.
