HE PROMISED ALL SHE ASKED
A Wedding Last Wednesday Near the Cut-off

A wedding that caused considerable talk occurred last week near the cut-off in the Sni bottoms. Bruce Peterson, who lives down that way, came to the conclusion that he wanted a wife, so he advertised for one. Ira Clara Foster read the advertisement and lost little time in coming from her home in Indiana to investigate matters. She evidently found things as represented, as she expressed her willingness to accept Bruce's proposal if in return he would make her certain promises. Of course, Bruce Peterson was ready to make almost any kind of a promise under the circumstances, and wanted to know the conditions she referred to. Then she asked:

"Will you split and carry in the wood?"
"I will," said Bruce.

"Will you carry in the wash water?" she asked.
"I will," said Bruce.

"Will you carry out the suds?" was the next question.
"I will," answered Bruce with a smile.

"Will you get up in the morning and start the fire?"
It is said this question caused Bruce to hesitate a few moments, but again came the answer "I will."

"Will you mop the floors?"
The answer "I will" was given very promptly this time as Bruce cast his eyes on the clay floor in his cabin.

All the promises having been made and accepted the couple decided to get married, and the ceremony took place at the home of Mr. Byers (16 Nov 1904 Pike Co, IL).
