Attend Funeral - Hartford - Relatives from several points in the Alton vicinity attended funeral rites conducted Sunday for C.H. Wintjen, 75, of Pleasant Hill. those from Hartford were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wintjen of Delmar avenue, and Mrs. Joseph Retzer of East Watkins street. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wintjen, Mrs. Lester Hester and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Watts of Wood River and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Pruitt of Bunker Hill also attended the service. C.H. Wintjen was the father of Lawrence and Arthur Wintjen and Mrs. Chester Pruitt. (Son of Andreas and Elizabeth Wintjen)

Attend Funeral - Hartford - In three weeks Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Retzer of East Watkins street have attended the funerals of two uncles and one aunt. The first occurred when Henry Wintjen, an uncle of Mrs. Retzer, died, the second when Mrs. Ella McLain, aunt of Reizer, died, and the third Wednesday when Mrs. Retzer's uncle, Joseph Field, of White Hall, died. Mr. and Mrs. Retzer attended the burial rites conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Dawdy funeral home in White Hall, with Rev. E.T. Monroe conducting services. Burial was at the Richwood cemetery in Carrolton. Mrs. Retzer said her uncle had been removed to a Jacksonville hospital where underwent an operation from which he never completely recovered. He had been in failing health since early spring, she said. Also attending the funeral were Arthur Wintjen of Delmar avenue and Lawrence Wintjen of Wood River, nephews.
