JOHN ALBERT
, aged 77 years and 10 months, died at his residence on Bee Creek, Saturday, May 18, 1877, after an illness of two weeks, although in feeble health since last fall. He was buried on Sunday...the funeral being attended by a large concourse of people. Mr. Albert was born July 12, 1799, in the State of Virginia; was married to Nancy D. Alexander, daughter of Col. John Alexander, of Rogersville, Tennessee; came to Illinois in 1833, and settled in Carrollton, Green county, and moved to Pike 1854. As a kind parent, and estimable citizen and a consistent Christian he had no superior, having been a member of the Presbyterian Church for nearly forty years...
AILEEN JOSEPHINE AUTREY
, 83, of Hannibal, Mo, and formerly of Pittsfield, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Levering Regional Health Care in Hannibal.
She was born July 5, 1928 in St. Louis, Mo., the first of 15 children to Albert and Mazie Zettler Harris. She married Donald Autery and to this union had four children and he preceded her in death. She later married Lowell Autery and to this union was born two children and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by four sons, Gene Ray (Carol) Autery, of Lebanon, Mo., Donald Lee (Carolyn) Autery of South Mills, N.C., Jack Autery of Waverly, Va. and David Rex Autery of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Mazie (Donald) Vogel of Canton, Mo. and Lorraine (Wayne) Johnson of Perrysburg, Ohio; two brothers, Arthur (Kay) Harris of Iberia, Mo. and Donald (Ruby) Harris of Tuscumbia, Mo.; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rosemary; one son, Eddie; two grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Webster and Virginia Heusted; and five brothers, Albert, Jr., Richard Henry, George, Oscar; and three brothers in infancy.
Josie attended school in Nebo when her parents moved to Illinois and it is there she met her childhood sweetheart and were later married. They resided in Pittsfield, for many years, raising their children in Pike County. She then moved to Curryville, Mo. to be near her daughter. She was a homemaker that loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She enjoyed her photographs of all her family and friends and tending to her flowers and houseplants.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield with burial at Pittsfield West Cemetery. JASON W. AUTREY
, 89 of the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy, and formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Thursday, Sept.29, 2011, at the Illinois Veteran’s Home.
Jason was born in Nebo, December 10, 1921, a son of Chester A. and Alten Eliza Ransom Autery. He married Edith Atteberry and she preceded him in death.
Jason was an overseer of the King Lake Farms (R. H. Fienup Duck Club) in rural Pleasant Hill. He greatly enjoyed guiding duck hunts and duck and goose hunting, deer hunting, and fishing the Mississippi River where he enjoyed spending time in the Mississippi River Bottoms. He also enjoyed going out to the Red Dome Inn and the Atlas Café and visiting with friends. He raised and trained Labrador Retrievers.
He is survived by a daughter, Missy Love of Rock, Kan. and a step son, Danny Davies of Clarksville, Tenn. along with four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Martha Sutton, Rosella Edlen and Gladys Vincent and a brother, Evan Autrey.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Interment was in the Nebo Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Pittsfield American Legion Post 152. Visitation was held Sunday evening, Oct. 1, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.
