HALEY MARIE REEDY , daughter of Russel Paul and Misty Jo Reedy of Browning, was stillborn Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She is survived by her parents, one sister, Abbigail Nicole at home; grand­parents, Vicki Reedy of Browning, Terry Reedy of Ipava, Marilyn and Ed "Purple" Davis of Rockport; great- grandparents, Laura Hale of Rushville, Pauline Reedy of Lewistown, Linda Gallhaer of Louisiana, Mo. and Gene Davis of Rockport. Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services were held Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to the O.B. department of Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

ZOE RENAE REEDY , 3 years old of New London, Mo. died Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, in Barry. She was born July 7, 2007, in Hannibal, Mo. the daughter of Brenda Hively of Barry and Samuel Jay and Heather Reedy of New London. Other survivors include sib­lings, Korbyn Hively of Barry and Malachi Reedy. and Dillan McNish of New London. Maternal grand­parents are Larry and Lora Williams of Barry, Tim and Carol Hampton of Clarksville, Mo. and Deborah Griffin of Chilicothe, Mo. Paternal Grandparents are Penny Reedy of New London and Mr. and Mrs. Chet Reedy of Frankfort Mo. Maternal great-grandparents are Shirley Beaver of Monroe City, Mo. and Glen and Flo Williams of Barry and John and Maxine Owens, also of Barry, along with Judy and Joe House of Hunnewell, Mo. Zoe is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was pre­ceded in death by a sister, Makayla McNish. Zoe loved her purses and would drop everything to put on a new pair of shoes, and she always loved watching the Monster Trucks. Funeral services were held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, with Rev. Scott LaMasters officiating. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial was at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisiana, Mo. A memorial fund has been established at the 1st National Bank of Barry, 'in Care of the bank or Niebur Funeral Chapel.

BESSIE IRENE (YELTON) REEL , 79, of rural Pittsfield, a homemaker, died at 9:50 a.m. Monday (Nov. 21, 1994) in her home. Born Jan. 26, 1915, in New Canton, she was a daughter of Richard Walter and Pearl Chrisman Yelton. She married Fred Reel April 23, 1943, in Center, Mo. He survives. Mrs. Reel graduated from Barry High School, was a member of First Baptist Church of Pittsfield and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Survivors also include two sons, Terry and Roger, both of Pitts­field; five grandchildren, Rick, Jamie, Jennifer and Brad Reel, all of Pittsfield, and Christa Reel of Aledo; a brother, Russell Yelton of Barry; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Wendorff of Barry and Mrs. Jean Losch of Quincy. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Merritt Yelton; and six sisters, Hazel, Vergie, Clara, Lucille, Edna and Marge. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Pittsfield by the Rev. Steve Cox. Burial will be in Pitts­field West Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 tonight with family meeting friends after 6 p.m. in the Niebur Funeral Home.

MILDRED REEL , 90, of Arlington, Va. died March 24, 2009, at her home where she resided with her great-niece and her husband, Sue and David Skidmore. Mildred was born Dec. 4, 1918 in Deny, Pike County, to Fred and Lenna Reel. She was the youngest of 10 broth­ers and sisters, who have all preceded her in death: Stephen, Paul, Juanita, Arthur, Rachel, Lois, John, Fred and Maynard. Millie, as she was known to her family and friends, was the former Executive Director of the Future Homemakers of America (FHA) now known as FCCLA. She served as the Executive Director from 1963 until her retirement in 1983. Millie was known as a leader and visionary during her time at FHA. As a result of her dedica­tion to education and youth, it is esti­mated she touched the lives of over four million young people across the nation and the world. Millie graduated in 1942 from Western Illinois University. She received her Bachelor's in Education in 1942 and her Master of Science in 1950. As a University Alumnus, she received their Distinguished Accomplishment Alumni Award in 1977. She taught High School Home Economics in Illinois and served as State Supervisor, Home Economics Education, prior to coming to Washington, D.C. in 1956 as the Assistant National Advisor for FHA. Millie was a consummate artist, seamstress and craftsperson, and her creations were legendary among her family and friends. She found beauty in every person she met and art in every object. Her love of children knew no bounds and she gave generously of herself to all in need. She is survived by her nieces, Jill Richards, Patricia Sheley, and Annabel Blackorby (and their spouses) and her nephews Larry Collier, John Ronald Reel, William Losch, Don Allen Reel, Roger Reel and Terry Reel (and their spouses). In addition, she is survived by her great-nieces Susan Skidmore, Patricia Lyons and, Carol Home (and their spouses) who lived near her in the Virginia area, along with a multitude of other great-nieces/neph­ews, and great-great-nieces/nephews and assorted other relatives and count­less dear friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in Millie's name be made to a children's charity of your choice.

NORMAN W. REEL , 77 of rural Pittsfield passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Illini Community Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on January 18, 1933 near Detroit, IL, a son to William Raymond and Eva Mae Baker Reel. He married Betty L. Wright on September 12, 1954 in the Detroit Methodist Church where they still attended church. Norman was raised in the Detroit area and as a child attended the Goldman School. He graduated from Griggsville High School in 1950. In 1960 Norman and Betty purchased a farm in rural Detroit where they raised their children and began farming together. Norman farmed, hauled livestock, operated a saw mill and did custom hay baling. In previous years he enjoyed stock car racing at the Pittsfield Speedway. He collected Indian artifacts, was an avid hunter and enjoyed working on antique tractors, especially Oliver tractors. He loved spending time with his family, playing rook and hunting with his boys, as this is what his life was about. He is survived by his wife Betty and three sons, Marvin (Tonya) Reel of Detroit, Mark (Penny) Reel of Pittsfield and William Reel of Pittsfield. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and one brother, Gerald Reel of Barry, IL also survive along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Melvin Wayne Reel and one brother, Donald Leroy Reel. Services are being held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Rev. Dave Kelly and Rev. Quentin Beard officiating. Interment will be in the Blue River Cemetery near Detroit. A lunch for family and friends will be held at the Detroit Town Hall after the service. Visitation will be held Friday evening, October 29, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Blue River Cemetery or donor’s choice

JOYCE REESE , 75, of Pittsfield, and formerly of Perry, died Oct. 1, 2009. Born May 22, 1934 in Tuscumbia, Ala., she was the only child of John P. and Delsie Agnes Walsh Plemmons. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Reese, the only child of Charles August and Hazel Marie Six Reese June 24, 1951, in the Beardstown Methodist Church, Beardstown. He preceded her in death Oct. 31, 2003. Joyce lived in many southern states in her childhood, as her father worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority. She graduated from Beardstown High School, Beardstown, and enjoyed meeting her classmates monthly for lunch. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Perry, for 48 years transferring her membership in 1997 to the Pittsfield United Methodist Church. She served her church on the administrative board in many offices, was a Lay-Member to annual conferences, and was a Sunday school teacher, youth leader, member of the choir and The United Methodist Women. Joyce was a life member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls and served on the advisory board, member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as a past matron and Daughters of the Nile. She was a 55 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as a past president, served a past regent of the Nancy Ross Chapter NSDAR, Member of the Rev. James Caldwell Chapter NSDAR of Jacksonville, Griggsville Genealogical and Historical Society, Pittsfield Women's Club, Abbie A. Hatch Chautauqua of Griggsville, Il., Abe Lincoln Project of Pike County, and a volunteer at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library. She was interested in genealogy and proud of her southern heritage. She loved Pike County and promoting it through Abe Lincoln in Pike County, Illinois. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her children, Charles Robert (Marilyn) Reese of Springfield, Paul Christopher (Debra) Reese of Grenada, Miss., Barbara Kathleen "Kathy" (John Alvin) Hoover of Pittsfield, survive her. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jenille Nicole Reese, Nathaniel Evan Reese, Emily Kathleen Hoover, Natalie Noel Hoover and Elijah August Hoover. Step grandchildren surviving are Nicole and Christopher Steed of Grenada, Miss., Shawn (Liz) Hoover of Pittsfield, and Traci (Bobby Gene) Wood of Milton. One great-granddaughter, Marley Sophia Hoover of Pittsfield and one-step great grandson, Jagen Wood of Milton also survives. Services will be held Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. at the Pittsfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Wilber officiating with interment in the Wilson McCord Cemetery in Perry, IL.

MRS. ALONZO REEVE & CHILD - The eastern part of Pike county is excited over the murder at Perry on Tuesday of Mrs. Alonzo Reeve and her little babe, but 8 weeks old. The deed was done by the husband and father, who shortly after ended his own worthless life saving the infuriated people from taking things into their own hands. This makes the third murder affair in that county in a month.

JAMES F. REEVE , 80, of rural Barry, died at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday (April 25, 1995) in his home. He was born March 13, 1915, near El Dara, a son of William Henry and Freida Edna Traut­wein Reeve. He married Jean Angus Sept. 18, 1948, in El Dara. She survives. Mr. Reeve was an Army vet­eran of World War II and served for several years on the Barry School Board and as board treas­urer. He was a member of El Dara United Methodist Church for 71 years, El Dara Masonic Lodge 388 for more than 50 years and also served as a 4-H leader for many years. Survivors also include a son, Stewart Reeve of St. Peters, Mo.; two daughters, Elizabeth Burnett of Garland, Texas, and Margaret Stephens of Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and a stepbrother, Charles Coulter of Whittier, Calif. He was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Glen Reeve. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in El Dara United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in Taylor Martin Cemetery near El Dara. Visitation will , be 7-9 tonight, with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m., in the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry. ORA M. (SIDWELL) REEVE , 89 of Jerseyville died Friday, July 27, 1984 in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. She was a retired after being employed as a house mother at Monmouth College. Born July 14, 1895 in Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Louella Wood Sidwell. She married William H. Reeve who preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Corrine Franklin of Jerseyville; a son Charles Coulter of Whittier, CA: six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter two brothers and one grandson. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the El Dara Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Milhouse officiating. Burial was in Park Lawn Cemetery at Barry. Memorial gifts may be give to the Heart Fund.

ROBERT J. REEVES , age 82, of Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Sterling, Il. and formerly of Perry, Il. died late Wednesday evening (April 28, 2010) at the nursing home. He was born August 13, 1927 in Perry, Il. son of the late J. Vail and Zoe Ingram Reeves. He married Alma Marciel on February 18, 1949 in Honolulu, Hawaii and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Roberta Dougherty and husband Don of Perry, Il. and Maile Hills and husband Joe of Mt. Sterling, Il.; a son, Mark Reeves and wife Ruth of Griggsville, Il.; seven grandchildren, Krista Savage and husband Doug and Trisha Hills all of Quincy, Il., Jason Hills and wife Kari, Bryan Hills and wife Jami all of Mt. Sterling, Il., Tracy Flowers and husband Jamie of Perry, Il., Sarah Freeman and husband Jon of Griggsville, Il., and Ashli Freesmeyer and husband David of Wetumpka, Alabama; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Vail Crank of Lacon, Il. and Jenni Lee Scoggins of Alton, Il.; one brother, Richard O. Reeves of Arizona; two sister-in-laws, Betty Reeves of Liberty, Il. and Delores Reeves of Pittsfield, Il.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gene Reeves and Edwin Reeves. Mr. Reeves was a 1945 graduate of Perry High School. Following school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii during the war which is where he met and fell in love with his wife Alma. He was a past employee of Perry Farm Equipment in Perry, Il. and Bader Agriculture Products in Meredosia, Il. Bob was a past board member of Perry Schools; past president of Perry PTA; a member of People to People; Pike Promenaders; Country Couples; Perry American Legion Post; and was Perry Pioneer Days Honored Citizen. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday (May 4, 2010) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Il. Burial will be in McCord Cemetery in Perry, Il. where graveside military rites will be conducted by Perry American Legion Post. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. MILDRED ROACH , 80, of Pleasant Hill, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. She was born April 5, 1929 near Nebo, the daughter of Roy and Elsie Shellhorse Ruble. She married Owen F. Roach April 5, 1948 in Auburn and he survives. Mildred was a 1947 graduate of Nebo High School. She had been employed by the Columbiana Seed Company in Eldred and Motorola in Quincy. She enjoyed flowers, gar­dening and vacationing. She was a member of the Baylis Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Owen F. Roach of Pleasant Hill; a son, Ron Roach of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daugh­ter, Vicki (Raymond) Barnes of Las Vegas, Nev. and a sister, Georgia Lee Smith of Pleasant Hill. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother; three sisters, Francis Day, Vella Davis and Dorothy Ruble, and a grandson, Tony Martin. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill, conducted by Pastor Jim Jacques. Burial followed at the Poor Cemetery near Mozier. Visitation was held Saturday from noon until the time of services at the funeral home. EVA MAE ROENTZ , 84, died at Monday, March 21, 2011, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. She was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Milton, Ill. She was the daughter of Reuben and Sadie (Ruble) Brown, both deceased. She married Bill Roentz in September 1947. He died July 12, 1986. She and her husband owned and operated Bill's Market in Grafton for many years. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton. She is a 1945 graduate of Milton Community High School. Survivors include sons, Roger and Carol Roentz of Grafton and Rick and Susan Roentz of Granite City; grandchildren Ryan, Randy and Raymond Roentz and Angie Brown; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ashlyn Brown and Rocho and Robert Roentz; brother, Lewis, wife Lois Brown of Pittsfield; sister, Margaret Ehlert of Barry, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Ronnie Roentz; and brothers, Earl Dean, Bradley and Howard Brown; and sisters, Dorothy Guthrie, Ellen Wade and Lora Eloise Brown. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton, where a funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Fr. Patrick Gibbons will officiate. Burial was at St. Norbert's Cemetery in Hardin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES RUCKER , This forenoon at his home in this city occurred the death of Charles Rucker, pneumonia, following an at­tack of influenza being the cause of his death. His wife, who died with the same disease, was buried only yes­terday afternoon, thus leaving a fam­ily of children alone. Two of the children were born only last Saturday. It is one of the saddest cases in the series of deaths that have occurred recently.

MABEL (TUCKER) RUCKER , was born May 3rd, 1887, at Pleasanton, Kansas. When a child, the family moved to Benviile, Ill. She was married to Charles, Rucker July 8th, 1903. She was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive their mother. Two of these came to the home last Sat­urday morning Mrs. Rucker was a good wife and mother, and a constant follower of Jesus. She not only attended the Methodist church of which she was, a member, but took the family with her. Her example was safe and worthy of imitation. She will be greatly missed, not only in the home, but in the com­munity and in the church. The memory of the just is as a shining light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Earth is poorer, but heaven is richer. "Sleep on beloved and take thy rest." The remains were interred in the Griggsville cemetery Tuesday after­noon at 1:30, after a short service at the grave conducted by Rev. J. T. Stretton.

LONNIE L. RIFE SR , 63, formerly of rural Barry, died at 11:51 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1995) in Dixon. Born Feb. 16, 1932, at Richfield in Adams County, Mr. Rife was a a son of Lyman and Rosa Oliver Rife. Survivors include a son, Lonnie Rife Jr. of Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Colleen) DiMilan of Hannibal, Mo., and Terri Howell, serving with the Army in El Paso, Texas; two brothers, Walter Rife of Quincy, and Fred Rife of Dixon; two sisters, Viola Mayfield and Roselea Crawford, both of Quincy; and five grandchildren, Lonnie D. Rife of Michigan, Lauren and Paige Dillman of Hannibal, and Craig and Brittany Howell of El Paso. Mr. Rife was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Voss and Della Gross, and five brothers, Louie, Clarence, Floyd, Vernon and Raymond, in infancy. Private graveside inurnment services will be conducted Satur­day in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy by the Rev. Roger Selves. Visitation will be held 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the Zehender Robin­son Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy.

BENJAMIN N. RITZER , 30, of McAllister Drive, Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville. Ben was born in Butler Sept. 3, 1979. He was the son of Donald K. Ritzert and Diane L. Fallecker Hamilton. He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in North Oakland. He enjoyed puzzles, fishing, and the company of his family and friends. Ben is survived by his parents, Donald K. Ritzert and his wife Barbara of Dixon, Mo., and Diane L. Fallecker Hamilton and her husband John of Pittsfield; three sisters, Crystal S. McAllister and her husband Kory of Pearl, Emily C. Hamilton, and Natalie Hamilton, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Shawn Hudson and his wife Tarnee of Mechanicsburg, Va. and Thomas Hudson of Dixon, Mo.; two nephews, Nate and Weston McAllister of Pearl, and a niece, Kilyn Oxley of Pittsfield; his paternal grandmother, Mary N. Ritzert of Chicora, and his maternal grandmother, Sue Fallecker Green of Chicora, as well as number of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Herbert R. Ritzert, and his maternal grandfather, Joseph D. Fallecker Jr. Friends were received at the Hile Funeral Home, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 23 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, Chicora, with Rev. William J. Ritzert, Chaplain at the Butler VA Medical Center and Ben's great uncle, officiating. Interment will follow at Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora. EDWIN D. ROBERTSON , 62, of rural Barry, died Thursday morning (Oct. 28, 1993) near Barry. Born June 15, 1931, in Cin­cinnati Township in Pike County, Mr. Robertson was a son of Charles Edwin and Goldie Eliza­beth Embree Robertson. Mr. Robertson was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in West Germany during the 1950s. He was a member of the Illinois National Trappers Asso­ciation, the National Rifle Asso­ciation, the Bass Anglers Sports­man Society and Barry American Legion Post 222. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his parents; five sisters, Mrs. Harold (Mary Ann) Myers of Rockport, Mrs. Larry (Freda) Rudolph of Wood River, Mrs. Frank (Alice Jean) Crain of Edwardsville, Mrs. Artie (Kathyrn) Harris of Iberia, Mo., and Mrs. Nickey (Sharon) Brown of Barry; and three brothers, James of Kinderhook, Robert of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Richard of Barry. Mr. Robertson was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Oscar; and one sister, Betty L. Robertson. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Kirgan Fu­neral Home in Barry. SHIRLEY RODGERS , 83, of O'Fallon, Mo. and formerly of Pleasant Hill died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. She was born Feb. 5, 1926 in rural Pike County, a daugh­ter of Charles Henry and Minnie Wombles Ferguson. She married Paul J. Rodgers Nov. 5, 1945 in Klamath Falls, Ore. and he sur­vives. Shirley attended Hannibal- LaGrange College and graduated from W.I.U. in Macomb with a teaching degree. She taught at the Spring Hill School near Pike Station in rural Pike County before mov­ing to the northern California and southern Oregon region. She and her husband returned to the mid- west in 1962 settling in O'Fallon. She was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge while in Pleasant Hill and she enjoyed sewing and helping others. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Paul J. Rodgers of 0' Fallon; a son, C.J. (Joan) Rodgers of Wellsville, Kan.; a daughter, Shari (James) Carnahan of Silex, Mo.; and six grandchildren, Vicki Lynn Muth, Teresa Lynn Elliott, Kevin Rodgers, Trinity Dawn Taylor, Andrew Lee Carnahan and Dayne Edward Carnahan; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jesse Yokem, a sister, Katie Moore, an infant son, Dana Wayne Rodgers; a son-in-law, Ron Adams; and by a grandson, Roger Rodgers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill will Bro. Don Hannel officiat­ing. Burial will follow at the Perry Wells Cemetery near Pleasant Hill. Visitation was held Tuesday eve­ning from 6- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill is handling the arrangements.

JANET RAYE RUTLEDGE , 66 of Jacksonville and formerly of Pittsfield, passed away Thursday evening, March 11, 2010 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. Jan was born at Pittsfield , IL on August 24, 1943, a daughter to Raymond and Cathryn Cummings Miller. Jan was a homemaker and was employed as a nurse at Troy, Mo., Pittsfield, IL and Belton, TX. She will be remembered for her love of animals, her craftwork and her love and devotion to her grandchildren and family. Her sons, Tom (Kim) Miller and Mike (Danelle) Rutledge both of Concord , IL and grandchildren, Tyler, Tim, Kaleb, Bailey and Katie, survive her. Brothers, Russell Miller (Cecelia) of Pittsfield and Richard (Betty) Miller of Meredosia along with ten nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents. Cremation rites will be accorded per Jan’s wishes. A family celebration of her life is being planned for this summer. BESS B. RUYLE , Services for Miss Bess Ruyle. 84, of Nebo," who died Wednesday (Sept. 16, 1970) at 7:30 a. m. in a Jacksonville hospital, will be held Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Nebo Christian Church. The Rev. Joe Maynard will offi­ciate. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery. Miss Ruyle and her late brother, Cecil, owned and operated the Parkway Hotel in Pittsfield for many years. She was born in Bellview, Oct. 26, 1885. a daughter of Frank and Rebecca Sidwell Ruyle. She was a member of the Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was the last of her family.

BERNIECE I. (McCLINTOCK) RUYLE , 83, of Pleasant Hill died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996 at the Pleasant Hill Nursing Center. Born Dec. 30, 1912 in Hanford, Calif., she was a daughter of Harry and Hattie Walston McClintock. She married Harry "Burdette" Ruyle, May 4, 1937, in Bowling Green, Mo. He died March 5, 1971. Survivors include two sons, Jim and Bob Ruyle, both of Pleasant Hill; and two grandchildren, Jay Ruyle of Woodson and Shari Waters of Pleasant Hill and two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Devin Waters of Pleasant Hill.She was preceded in death by her par­ents, husband, one brother, Glenn McClintock; and one sister, Roselle Jackson. An elementary school teacher, Mrs. Ruyle had been employed by the Bayview School near Pleasant Hill from 1933 to 1936. She had attended college in Macomb. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ward-Lummis Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Carr offi­ciating. Burial was in Crescent Heights Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Crescent Heights Cemetery Association.

HARRY BURDETTE RUYLE , 60, died unexpectedly in his home Friday (March 5, 1971) at 9:15 p. m. Mr. Ruyle was born in Pleasant Hill, Dec. 19, 1910, a on of James and Effie Kendall Ruyie. He at­unded Pleasant Hill elementary and high school and was a long time employee of Panhandle East­ern Pipeline company. He married Bernice McClintock, May 4, 1937 in Bowling Green, Mo. Surviving are the widow; two sons, James and Robert, both of Pleasant Hill, and two grandchildren. Services were held Sunday after­noon at 2 in Ward Funeral chapel. The Rev. Joe Maynard officiated. Burial was in Crescent Heights cemetery.

JOHN FRANCIS RUYLE , son of James and Mary Ruyle, was born at Pleasant Hill, Ill., November 11 1972, and passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Callahan in Rock Island, Ill., November 27, 1944, at the age of 72 years and 11 days. When a young man he was married to Mossie Weidman, and following her death he married Melissa Hoaglin, who died in a few years. He was married to Retta Iler, December 18, 1901. He spent practically his whole life in Pleasant Hill, and followed the occupation of farming and carpenter until failing health caused his retirement a few years ago. Mr. Ruyle was a good neighb Dr and spent much of his time in assisting sick neighbors and friends, when assistance was needed. He always carried his part of the community responsibilities. Mr. Ruyle had no children, but he was an advocate and staunch supporter of good schools for the children of pleasant Hill. His life was one of unselfishness. Early in life he united with the Christian Church in Pleasant Hill. Surviving are the widow, and several neices and nephews. His father, mother, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held in the Christian Church in Pleasant Hill, November 28, 1944, with Rev. Jolly of Nebo, in charge. Burial was in Crescent Heights cemetery at Pleasant Hill

MILDRED (SMITH) RUYLE , 80, of Nebo, IL, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 1989, at Pittsfield Nursing Center. She operated a nursing home in Nebo 16 years. Born in New Hartford, her parents were the late George Robert and Louisa Emily (Rowley) Smith. She married Joseph Oscar Ruyle Sept. 8, 1931, in Belleview. He died June 1, 1953. Surviving are three sons, Phillip Ruyle of Pittsfield, Gordon Ruyle of Alton and Paul Ruyle of Jacksonville; a daughter, Margie Turnbeaugh of Highland, IN; a step-daughter, Alberta Knight of Jerseyville; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a great- granddaughter; six step-great­grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Smith of Nebo and Clark Smith of Pittsfield; and four sisters, Gladys Wagner of Quincy, June Roberts of Jerseyville and Jane Gravett and Lucy Ruyle, both of Alton. Preceding her death were three stepsons, two brothers and two sisters. Visitation was held Thursday. Services were conducted Friday at Ward-Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. The Rev. Wilson Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Nebo Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

JOHN L. RUZICH , 60, of rural Griggsville, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. John was born May 20, 1951, in Chicago, a son of Rev. John and Virginia Seagle Ruzich. He married Resa J. Wine Dec. 29, 1979, in Winchester, Ind. and she survives. John was a Certified Public Accountant and also worked in management. He had previously worked at Sheller-Globe, British Tire & Rubber/United Technologies, Regal Plastics, Nelco and Dot Foods in Mt. Sterling, IL. He was a member of the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene. John graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1969 and attended Michigan State University from 1969-1973 where he played offensive tackle and defensive end football. He later graduated from Olivet Nazarene University where he also enjoyed coaching. John played semi-pro football for Chicago Broncos and was an avid fan of Chicago Bears and Pittsburg Stealers. Upon returning to Pittsfield John was a volunteer coach at Pittsfield High School for the football team. John was a true athlete and enjoyed snowmobiling, scuba diving and hunting. He dearly loved attending and watching his son Chad play football. He is survived by his wife, Resa; a son, Chad and wife Brandi Ruzich of Pittsfield; his mother and father, Rev. John and Virginia Ruzich of Pittsfield; a brother, Fred and wife Jennifer Ruzich of Pittsfield; a sister, Cindy and husband Paul Stevenson of Danville; and a granddaughter, Tinley Ruzich. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Charlotte (Jim) Adcok of Noblesville, Ind. and Joyce (Larry) Burggraf of Dalton, Ohio; nieces, Stephanie and husband Jess Scott, Christy Wilson, Kim Knox and a nephew, Troy Adcock along with thirteen great nieces and eleven great nephews. John was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynnae Yvonne Ruzich in 1995 and in-laws, Lester and Neva Wine. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jon Kroeze officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene. A lunch for family and friends will be held following the interment at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene Fellowship Hall. Memorials are suggested to the Pittsfield Illini Hospital Oncology Department, Friends of the Olivet Nazarene University or the Lynnae Ruzich Memorial Scholarship Fund
