, 74, of New Canton, died Tuesday night in his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 in the Lock funeral home here. The Rev. Gilbert Fletcher will officiate. Burial will be in the Morey cemetery south of New Canton. Mr. Smith was born at Atlas Feb. 16, 1892. He was a member of the Atlas Christian church and the V. F. W. He had lived in New Canton the last 20 years. Surviving are his widow, the former Myrtle Estes; his mother, Mrs. Grace Ator of Pittsfield, and four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Lynn of Louisiana, Mo., Mrs. Neva Wombles of New Canton, Mrs. Eva Forgey of Rockport, and Mrs. Ruth Holcomb of Rockport.
MINA (HERRON) SMITH
, 87, of Hannibal and formerly of Pleasant Hill , Ill. , died at 1:03 p.m. April 15, 1999, at Hannibal Regional Hospital . Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal . Pastor Jim Allen will officiate. Burial will be at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill . Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Hamburg , Ill. , to Timothy and Clara Foster Herron. She was married to Raymond Smith on Dec. 23, 1933, in Pleasant Hill . He preceded her in death June 19, 1967. Survivors include one daughter, Vera Abright of Hannibal; one stepson, Dwayne Smith of Mozier, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Davis of Banks, Ore., Genevieve Buchanan of Pleasant Hill and Betty Coonrod of Madison, Ill.; and five brothers, Charles Herron and Richard Herron Jr., both of Pleasant Hill, John Herron of Rock Island, Ill., Carl D. Herron of Nebo, Ill., and Simon L. Herron of the state of Texas. She was preceded in death by three sons, John W. Smith, Ronald W. Smith and Raymond Smith Jr.; and two sisters, Ruth Praytor and Bertha Herron. Mrs. Smith had worked for Stark Brothers Nursery in Pleasant Hill, Atlas, Ill. , and Rockport , Ill. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bill Abright, Ronnie Abright, Wesley Abright, John Abright, Robert Abright and Cheyenne LaFond.
MONA S. SMITH
, 98, of Pittsfield, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Mona was born July 25, 1913, in Ellsworth, Kan., a daughter to Thomas and Eva Cochrane Scott Martin.
The family moved to Columbia, Mo. in 1925 where Mona graduated from Hickman High School and attended the University of Missouri. She was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority. Feb. 28, 1931, she married Glenn C. Smith in St. Louis, Mo. They moved to Edwardsville, in 1937 then to Pittsfield, in 1945 where Glenn continued his coaching career. Mona was a member of the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and was a 50 plus year member of PEO Sisterhood. She was active in many civic and church activities. She enjoyed painting, reading, bridge, golfing and other sports.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Aylin (Brian) Nelson of Lees Summitt, Mo.; a grandson, Kam (Lisa) Smith of Kansas City; daughter-in-law, Heilda K. Smith of Bradenton, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Eric, Caroline Smith, Brody and Audrey Nelson; one brother, Lt. Col. (ret) Thomas M. Scott Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; five nieces and one nephew. Mona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn; two sons, Scott and Roger Smith; and a brother, David M. Scott.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the United Methodist Church in Pittsfield, with Rev. Tom Wilber officiating. Interment will be in the West Cemetery in Pittsfield at a later date. NANCY E. (ROBBINS) SMITH
was born in Piqua, Ohio, Septembe 18, 1849 and departed this life April 21, 1903 aged 53 years, 7 months and ? days.
She was the daughter of Robert and Catherine Robbins, who came from Ohio to Illinois when the subject of this sketch was only 5 years old, and settled in Pike county.
She was married to her now sorely bereaved husband, Dayton Smith, December 25, 1867. As a result of this union eight children were born to them. Two have preceded their mother to the new world.
She was a woman who seldom went beyond her own dooryard, but was the center of influence in her home.
In religious faith Mrs. Smith was a firm believer in the doctrine of he Universalist church; though she never united with any. On her death bed she declared herself as fully trusting in her savior and said she had nothing to fear.
Her husband says she constantly filled the relations of wife, mother, neighbor and friend in a faithful and Christlike manner.
She leaves an aged father, her husband and the following children to mourn her: Frank D. of Covington IN; Mrs. Katie Burke of Hannibal MO; George C. of Chicago: Mrs. Maggie R. Conkling, of Cameron MO, and Harry C. and Willard at home; also one sister residing in Hannibal and a host of friends.
Her daughter, MRs. Arnold, died a year ago, and since then she has had the care of an infant grandson, John Arnold. The most of her life has been spent in this commmunity.
Funeral services were conducted from the family home Thursday APril 23, 1903 by Rev. W.M. Halley and burial was made in Park Lawn. The burial service was conducted by the Womans Relief Corp. Of which society she became a member only a short time before her death.

NATHANIEL SMITH
- The funeral of Nathaniel C. Smith was conducted at his home in Barry Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. E. B. Richey. After a brief service the remains were taken to the Woosley cemetery north of town where the GAR comrades of the deceased conducted the services at the grave. A large number of friends and relatives were present at the home and the bereaved widow wished to thank those who were ti [sic] kind in assisting her during the sickness of her husband. Nathaniel C. Smith was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1839 and died at his home in Barry at ___ o'clock Saturday June 7, 1902, at the age of 63 years. Bro. Smith came to Barry in 185__ that first time but returned to Cincinnati __in the year 1861 he enlisted as a private soldier in Ohio. He served in this capacity during the civil was and afterwards went again to his home in Cincinnati. Some years later he came to Barry where he engaged in the cooper trade. The departed one leaves only one brother living Mr. Edward Smith of Barry. The wife of the deceased and two daughters by a former marriage are also among the bereaved. Many friends mourn the loss of this loved one and expressed their sympathy for the bereaved. Death marches steadily and stealthily onward. He may come our way soon. Let us be ready and waiting.

NELSON SMITH
, was born Aug. 4, 1887 near Nebo, Illinois, and departed this life Dec. 3, 1936, being 49 years, 3 months and 29 days old. He was the son of Wm. E. and Susan Smith, who preceded him in death. He was one of 8 children, also having 3 half brothers and sister, of these, two, Lois and Iva preceded him in death.
On July 13, 1924 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Ola Kessinger, of Nebo. To this union was born three children, Ina Marie preceding him in death when 15 months old.
When 17 years old he trusted Christ as his Savior and united with the Nebo Baptist church. He has always enjoyed church services and appreciated the singing of Old-Fashioned hymns.
He leaves to mourn his loss his companion, three children, Gerald Paul Kasinger a step-son, Eleanor Gene and Nelson Glen. Eight brothers and sisters; Charles of Pleasant Hill, Elmer of Pittsfield, Francis of Nebo, W.T. of St. Louis, John of Pleasant Hill and Mrs. Tabitha Franklin of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Ethel Hayden of Nebo and Mrs. Lennie Roof of Mason City, Ill. Thirteen nieces and thirteen nephews, a host of relatives and friends.
In apparent good health all his life just the last few months was _______________________ a few weeks quietly passed away at the home of Mrs. Mary Lansdon Thursday afternoon.
Funeral services was conducted by Rev. Eldon Peek at the Baptist church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial was in the Hunter cemetery.

- Funeral services for O. Everette Smith, mayor of Pleasant Hill for the past 12 years, were at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Pleasant Hill Christian church with the Rev Joe Maynard and Rev Tom Anders officiating. Burial was in Crescent Heights cemetery. Ward-Lummis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 73, died May 4, 1979 in St. Mary Hospital, Quincy following an illness of about one month. Born May 4, 1906 in Pleasant Hill township, he was a son of Charles and Mildred Stone Smith. He was first married to Frances Orrill in Pike county on July 16, 1928. She died in January, 1961. He married Opal Mitchell in Pleasant Hill on Aug. 11, 1961 and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Owen of Pleasant Hill and Robert of Westchester, PA; a stepson, Doug Mitchell of Western Springs; a daughter, Mrs. Better Barton of East Alton; three brothers, Olen of Carthage, Verdie of Pleasant Hill and James of Mason City; a sister, Mrs. Clara Pratt of Watseka; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.
Mr. Smith was a former principal of the Pleasant Hill elementary school, retiring in 1954 after teaching for 25 years. He was also a retired farmer.
He attended Normal State and Western Illinois University. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian church and was on the boards of the Pike County Emergency Ambulance and the Pleasant Hill volunteer Ambulance units. He also served as secretary of the Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens Council.
Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill volunteer Ambulance Unit.

, 88, of Fenton, Missouri, formerly of New Canton, Illinois, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010, at her daughter's home in Fenton, Missouri.
She was born February 27, 1922, to Newton & Alma (Fitzpatrick) Smith. They preceded her in death. She married Cecil Guinn. He preceded her in death at a young age. She had 2 children in this marriage: Cecila & Larry.
She later married Herschel Stout in 1947. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1994. The had 5 children. 1 daughter Pamela was stillborn.
Surviving are 3 daughters - Cecilia Irwin (Freddy), of New Canton; Karen Stout, of Quincy; and Debbie Perkins (Terry), of Fenton, Missouri; 2 sons - Larry Guinn, of Desoto, Missouri and Herschel Stout, of Hillsboro, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She is also survived by 3 brothers - William Smith and Gene Smith of New Canton and James Smith of Ruskin, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil Guinn, husband Herschel Stout, 2 daughters, Pamela Stout and Judith Lynn Stout, daughter-in-law Thelma Guinn, a grandson John Paul Merseal, 1 sister Bessie Fredrickson, a sister-in-law Juanita Smith and 1 brother Newton Smith, Jr.
After her marriage to Herschel Stout they moved from Rockport, Illinois to St. Louis, Missouri. Lillian worked at several jobs in St. Louis and retired in the 1980's in St. Louis. In 1991, Lillian & Herschel moved back to New Canton. Herschel passed away from cancer in 1994. Lillian enjoyed playing bingo, going to the Barry Apple Festival, New Canton Days and Color Days. She crocheted for many many years until the last year of her life.
She made homemade yeast rolls, blackberry cobblers and apple pies. She loved to enter sweepstake contests and order flowers for her garden. She also loved to shop for clothes.
Lillian moved back to St. Louis in 2007. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at the Kirgan Funeral Home in Barry, Illinois.

OPAL V. (MITCHELL) SMITH
, 91, of Pleasant Hill, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield. Opal was born June 19, 1919, in Pleasant Hill, a daughter of George Peter and Sarah Luetta Martin Workman.
She married Henry Mitchell and he preceded her in death. She later married 0. Everette Smith Aug. 11, 1961, in Pleasant Hill and he died May 4, 1979.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Mike Mitchell and Debbie Wagenheim and a special friend, Ed Phillips of Perry. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son, Douglas Mitchell and by four sisters, Jessie Roy, Nora Foster, Georgia Mae McClintock and Deloris Meloan.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill conducted by Bro. Don flannel. , 76, a retired farmer living on Two Mile, southeast of Atlas, died in Illini hospital in Pittsfield at 3 Tues. afternoon, Dec. 28, 1965. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Smith was born in Atlas township August 9, 1889, a son of John and Laura Sealock Smith. He was married to Martha Esther Wilson on April 21, 1911 at Pittsfield , who survives. Surviving with the widow are four sons, Frank of Salem, N. H., Paul of Vallejo, Cal., Wallace of Granite City and Donald of Quincy; four daughters, Mrs. Everett (Fern) Humke of Lima, Mrs. Clyde Charlene Loucks of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Glenn (Betty) Applegate of Granite City and Mrs. James (Dorothy) Williams of Pittsfield; a sister, Mrs. Maggie Griffeth of Pittsfield; a brother, Curtis of Pittsfield; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in Ward funeral chapel in Pleasant Hill , Friday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Joe Maynard officiating. Burial was in the Wells cemetery. , 95, died May 6, 2008, at his residence in Pearl.
He was born April 23, 1913 in Pearl to Ernest and Verna Kessinger Smith. He married Florence G. Reese Sept. 12, 1933 in Pike County and she preceded Aug. 17, 2005.
He was a laborer on road construction. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Milton, an avid hunter and fisherman and better known as "Wolf Hunter" by his CB friends.
Survivors include six sons, Billy E. (Sandra) Smith, Nebo, Donald (companion Cheryl Richards), Pearl; Floyd "Bud" Smith, Milton, Gearold (Barbara) Smith, Pittsfield, Ronald D. (Pam) Pearl; and Freddie (Joetta) Smith; three daughters Mrs. Robert (Gladys) Clarkson, Pittsfield, Mrs. John (Doris) Webel, Pittsfield and Lois Stanley, Milton; three sisters; Leona (Don) Boren, Pittsfield, Emma Patton, Pittsfield, Ethel Shanks, Many, La.; 38 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded by his wife, Florence Smith, brothers George Elbert Smith and Earl Smith; sister, Lelia Wedding; daughter, Virginia Bevans; grandson, Michael Webel; step grandson, Ronnie Labby; granddaughter, Melissa Sue Stanley; four great granddaughters; and one great-grandson, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield with granddaughter Glenna Pruitt officiating. Burial will be in the Hess Cemetery, Pearl. RAYMOND EUGENE SMITH
, 85, of Quincy, died Thursday, March 19, 2009, in St. Vincents Home.
Born July 21, 1923 in Time, Jack was a son of Lucian and Cora Emery Smith. He married Alberta "Morene" Buchanan Sept. 26, 1942 in Bowling Green, Mo. She survives.
Jack enjoyed fishing and hunting. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII, receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Battle Stars and Overseas Bars. He was a member of the Quincy American Legion Post No. 37 and also the Quincy VFW Post No. 5129.
Jack owned and operated the Great River Meat Market at 12th and Washington from 1976 until his retirement in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Morene; three daughters, Sandra Mae Meade and her husband Dan of Quincy, Brenda Kay Waggoner and her husband Dan of Mesa, Ariz. and Jackie Jean Shannon and her husband Omer of Quincy; a son, Michael Smith of Springfield; five grandchildren, Marty Meade and his wife Julie of Portland, Ore., Brian Meade and his wife Kim of New Bern, N.C., Andy Waggoner and his wife Christy of Quincy, Nicole Meade of Quincy and Chris Shaul of Quincy; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cameron and Madison Waggoner, all of Quincy; and a brother, Harold Smith of Sullivan.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; twin granddaughters, Tammi and Lisa Waggoner; one brother, Floyd Smith; and two sisters, Faye McDonald and Martha Moore.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 23 at 2 in Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill with Rev. George Tomko officiating. There is no visitation but friends are invited to attend the graveside services.

ROBERT NOE SMITH
, 92, of Chambersburg and formerly of Griggsville died Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield.
He was born July 4, 1918 in Griggsville Township. He was a son of Jesse L. and Stella M. Stauffer Smith. He married M. Addibelle Carrel Sept. 16, 1945 at her parents home outside of Pittsfield and she preceded him in death June 14, 2000.
He is survived by a daughter Nancy Jane Shaner (Ronald) of Chambersburg, sons; Carrel W. Smith (wife Debbie) of Griggsville, Stephen J Smith (wife Terri) of Chambersburg and Ted Smith (wife Jody) of Griggsville; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a half sister Clara Elizabeth of Sonora, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half sister Hazel Icenogle, a half brother Charles, two sons Robert Dale and Jonathan, and a daughter Catherine Sue.
Mr. Smith attended several of the country schools. He was especially fond of the days spent at Shelley School north of Griggsville. He was a 1938 graduate of Griggsville High School. During WW II he worked at Curtis-Wright in the manufacture of the wing sections for the B17 bombers. He played his guitar for awhile on radio station WLDS. He engaged in farming after the end of WW II. He later worked as site security officer for the Ray Norbut Fish and Wildlife area. He loved Wildlife and collecting model trains and playing the guitar. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist church in Griggsville.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel in Griggsville with burial at Griggsville City Cemetery. ROSCOE M. SMITH
, 88, formerly of 1616 Madison, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 8, 1977) in the Grandview Nursing Home in Camp Point. He was born on Aug. 12, 1889, in Columbus, Ill, the son of Charles H. and Rebecca I. Henning Smith. He married Adah Adelle Hough on Dec. 18, 1912. She died on Feb. 5, 1825. He married again on Sept. 23, 1929, to Bessie Bradshaw. She survives. He was a creamery foreman in Clevenger's General Store in Clayton before moving to Quincy in 1927. He was employed by the Gross-Hokamp coal comapny. Before his retirement he worked as an assessor for the City of Quincy. He is survived by a son, Elvin M. Smith of San Diego, Calif,; two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Grace) Chifari of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Carroll (Mildred) Crews of Fulton, Mo.; three brothers, Stanley C. of Urbana, Dick of Golden and Chester of Clayton; a sister, Mrs. Henry (Dorothy) Garner of Tampa, Fla.; three step-children, Mrs. Georgia Dunker of Quincy, Mrs. Myrtle Roberts of Denver, Colo. and Dallas Bradshaw of Cedaridge, Colo.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. The Rev. Bill Riggs will officiate and burial will be in the Clayton South Side Cemetery.

SAMUEL H. SMITH
, well known and respected citizen of this city died at his home here Monday night March 29, 1920, after an illness lasting but a few days. "Uncle Sam" as he was familiarly known by all East Forkers, both old and young, will be remembered with distinctness that is liking to an everlasting perfume.... Long years ago before Coffeen was even thought of, the deceased run the East Fork store and Postoffice. This place was a fashionable retreat to all persons in those early days of 1864-1878. Later he moved his family to Nebo, Illinois where he conducted on of the largest general stores in that country. "Uncle Sam" was known as a great humorist and often wrote for different newspapers, his articles known as the Bonner articles. Up to the last he was a faithful contributor to the Democrat and only a few issues back did his last article appear. To day he is at rest; the pen that was controlled by the strong mind of S. H. Smith is still....Samuel H. Smith was born in Orwell, N. Y. July 22, 1834 and came to Illinois when yet quite young. He was united in marriage April 8, 1856 to Miss Mary Jane Williford, of Montgomery county and to this union were born twelve children, six of whom have preceded him to the Spirit world. For many years the Smith family resided up on the East Fork Prairie where the deceased was engaged in the general store business. He moved with his family to Nebo, Ill., in 1884 where he continued in the mercantile line and for many years was the leading merchant of that city. In 1909, now up in years he moved with his family back to East Fork, and settled in retirement at Coffeen. His life work was ended March 29, 1920, and the funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church, Thursday...the interment was made in the Wood Cemetery. He leaves to mourn his departure six children and an invalid wife. Those living are Ellen M. Brown, Coffeen, Jennie M. Weiser of Alva, Okla., Geo. T. Smith of Kansas City; Frank M. of Coffeen; Ora A. of Saginaw, Mich. and A. R. of St.

SCOTTIE O. SMITH
, 72, of rural Pittsfield , passed away, Friday, December 11, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield . He was born February 22, 1937 near Pea Ridge, Pike County , Pleasant Hill , IL . He was a son of Raymond L. and Esther Guthrie Smith. He married Mildred “Millie” A. Smith on April 19, 1957 at the Pittsfield Nazarene Church and she survives.
Scottie worked for the Brown Shoe Factory, Benson Motor Company and was a grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, a member of the Pike County Farm Bureau and enjoyed farming, coffee drinking and visiting with friends, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife Millie, sons, Greggory (Simone) Smith of Griggsville and Patrick (Megan) Smith of Pittsfield, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. One sister, Karol (Rudy) Wainman of Owensboro, KY and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Robin in 1980, a son, Mark in 1966 and a nephew, Rodney Smith whom was raised in his and Millie’s home. Two brothers, Milo and Guy Smith and one sister, Virginia Quiller also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 15 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with burial in the Miller Cemetery in Atlas. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, December 14 at the Niebur Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Miller Cemetery or the Pittsfield Nazarene Church .

SPENCER SMITH
, 78, of rural Rockport, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield.
He was born July 15, 1930 in Hamburg, the son of William Abbott and Neva Alice Turpin Smith. He married Wilma L. Hill March 21, 1956 in Hamburg and she survives.
Spencer was a retired farmer and had also been a long time laborer for Union Local #253 in Jacksonville and later Local #231 in Pekin.
He enjoyed bluegrass music, camping and duck and squirrel hunting. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Spencer was a member of the New Hartford Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma L. Smith of rural Rockport; a daughter, Karen (husband Mark) Barton of rural Rockport; a son, Spencer Ray (wife Terresa) Smith of rural Rockport, three grandchildren, Crystal A. McDonald, Caleb J. Smith and Trystin Rae Dawn Smith, also two great grandchildren, Kaitlin M. McDonald and Emma Katherine Nichole Nevius; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Abbitt Lee Smith of rural Rockport, who was raised like a son in the Smith home.
Spencer was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Louis, Harold, Cleo, Glenn and Jimmy (in infancy) Smith and by six sisters, Eileen Burge, Elizabeth Karrick, Maxine Windy, Doris Mae Fuller, Loretta Margaret Smith and Hallie M. Barnes.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Hartford Christian Church conducted by Bro. Don Flannel. Burial will follow at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. today, Wednesday at the Lummis Funeral Home in Pleasant Hill. A luncheon for family and friends will be held following the services at the New Hartford Christian Church. Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Fire and Rescue Squad or the charity or organization of the donor's choice.

SUSAN SMITH
- From the Primitive Missionary, Manchester, Illinois, Wednesday, November 23, 1904
Mrs. Susan Smith was born Feb. 14, 1850 and was united in marriage to Wm. Smith, March 8, 1874. She died Nov. 15, 1904, aged 54 years 9 months, 1 day.
She was the mother of eight children all of whom survive her except Lola who preceded her to the better world. In addition to the above she leaves to mourn her departure, husband, three step-children and a large number of friends.
Sister Smith united with the Baptist church at the age of 15, of which she remained a faithful and consistent member until death.
The funeral took place from the Nebo Baptist church conducted by the pastor. The remains were laid to rest in the Mason cemetery to await the resurrection of the just at the sound of the last trumpet.
All her children but two are Christians and trying to serve mother’s God. The family have the sympathy of the entire community. May the Lord console the sorrowing husband and father with his dear children. The Baptist church of Nebo has lost a faithful member but Heaven has gained our loss. “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

TIMOTHY AARON SMITH
, 54, died at his home in Rome, Ga., Dec. 25, 2010. He was born in Pittsfield April 19, 1956 to William Rex Smith and the late Charlotte Marie Crook smith. Tim attended Pleasant Hill High School. He was a veteran of the US Army and a parts specialist with AutoZone. HE was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; son Michael (Jessi) of Dothan, Ala.; daughters, Miranda VanWagner (Mark) of Headland, Ala. And Melissa Mathis (fiancé Jason Parham) of Gordon, Ala.; his father, Rex Smith; brothers, Bill (Judy) Smith, Monty (Susan) Smith, Danny (Lisa) Smith and Tony (Tara) Smith; and seven grandchildren.
Tim was an avid sportsman and loved spending every available moment outdoors with his family. No matter where Tim lived, he made the trip home every April to hunt his beloved Morels with his brothers, Tony, Danny and nephew, Daniel. Tim will be missed by anyone who met him and his “Larger than life” attitude.

TODD A. SMITH
, 40, of Pleasant Hill , IL and formerly of Griggsville , IL passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at his residence. Todd was born April 22, 1969 a son to James E. and Mary L. Willis Smith in Peoria , IL . He life companion of seventeen years, Jennifer R. Guthrie survives.
Todd was a graduate of Griggsville High School and was a truck driver for Gully Transportation of Quincy, IL since 1994. He was of the Baptist faith and was a NASCAR fan, Cardinal baseball fan, and loved fishing with his sons.
Surviving are companion Jennifer Guthrie and three loving sons at home, James Winston, Noah Michael, and Bradley Dean. Three brothers, Dennis Montgomery, Jonathan Howell, Aaron Howell; three sisters, Debbie and Becky and Teresa (Dave) Deeder of New Salem, IL, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Rev. Darrin Workman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. A private burial will be held at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill at a later date.

TONEY SMITH
, of Pittsfield died at 10:25 am Sunday, July 1, 1973 at Illini hospital in Pittsfield . Mr. Smith was born Oct. 8, 1892 in Pike County , a son of Antone and Maria Chenoweth Smith. He married Erma Loutzenhiser. She survives with two daughters, Mrs. Roscoe ( Ada ) McGlasson of Rockport and Mrs. Paul E. (Lola Jean) Stillwell of Covington, Ga. A sister, Mrs. Hugh Henry of Van Nuys , Calif. , survives also. There are three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War I. He was a retired farmer. The funeral will be held at 2:30 pm today, Tuesday, at Plattner Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Maynard officiating. Burial will be in the Miller cemetery near Atlas.
