MARIAN J. ZABEL , 86, of Pittsfield and formerly of Griggsville , IL , and Cooksville IL , died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Illini Community Hospital , Pittsfield , IL . She was born in Urbana , IL on June 25, 1923 a daughter of Kenneth and Helene Conklin Clawson. She married Donald L. Zabel on April 4, 1948, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1996. Mrs. Zabel was a housewife, a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pittsfield , IL. , and a former member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington , IL . She is survived by one son: Scott (Lisa) Zabel of Pleasant Hill, IL; two daughters: Becky Zabel of rural Mt. Sterling, IL, and Gretchen (Merle) Pierce of rural Canton, IL; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Eastlawn Cemetery in Bloomington , IL .

GEORGE ZEBRUN , 87, of Pittsfield , Illinois died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center , Springfield , Illinois . He was born in Benld , IL . on January 21, 1923 to Joseph and Rose Kehart Zebrun. His first marriage was to Marie Zeschki on June 20, 1948. He married Betty H. Havener on April 25, 1980 in Gibson City , Illinois , and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2004. Mr. Zebrun was a Wildlife Biologist for the Fisheries and Wildlife for the State of Illinois from 1952 until 1992. He served his country in the US Marine Corp during World War II. He was of the Russian Orthodox faith. He was a member of the Pittsfield American Legion Post # 152, Pike County V.F.W. Post # 9513, a committee member of the Pike County Duck’s Unlimited, Pike County Quails Unlimited, Pike County White Tails, Wild Turkey Federation, NRA, and Illinois Rifle Association. Survivors: Two sons: George Zebrun, Jr. of Alto Pass, IL, and Joseph Zebrun of Pittsfield, Il; two daughters: Olga Kramer (Mike) Rives, of Carlinville, Il, and Liese (Tom) Zebrun-Gero, of Helena, MT, a sister: Olga (William) Stinnett, of Carlinville, Il, seven grandchildren Jason Kramer, Meghan Morris, Jason Rives, Kaleb Zebrun-Gero, George Zebrun III, Nicholas Zebrun, and Jamie Boatwright, and three great grandchildren: Cooper Morris, Harper Lee Lammle, and Jensen Boatwright. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: William Zebrun. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield , Illinois A visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 4 until 7 pm at the Niebur Funeral Home, Pittsfield , Illinois where Military rites will be conducted by the Pittsfield American Legion Post # 152. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld, IL. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. following the visitation.

ANNA MARY ZEIGLER , was born April 26, 1919 and passed away at St. Mary's hospital July 5, 1920 at 5:30 a.m. She was taken suddenly ill late Saturday afternoon with telescoping of the bowels. Anna Mary was a remarkable child of her age, being affectionate toward her father, mother and grandparents. She also displayed a great fondness for her home. She was at the time of her passing away 1 year, 2 months and 9 days old....The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon and 1 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. W. F. Huff, of Waverly. The pall bearers were Vern, Wayne, Lee and Earl Gordon. Those in charge of the flowers were Lucile Stickleman, Sarah Nicholas, Lillian Gordon and Dorothy Danbar. The burial was in Hall cemetery. Those who attended from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harpole and Hall and Ursa. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Harpole and son Gerald of Nebo and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Stickleman of Carlisville.

RICHARD LEE ZIMMERMAN , 77, resident of Albuquerque, N.M., died July 18, 2010: He is survived by his wife, Marcia Zimmerman of Albuquerque; children, John Zimmerman of Albuquerque, Tim Zimmerman of Raleigh, N.C., Paul Zimmerman of Santa Fe, N.M. and Sara Lynch and husband David of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brett Zimmerman, Alexander and Matthew Lynch; sisters Ruth Weaver, Norma Wiley and Betty Hoover and brother Robert Zimmerman. His parents, Earl G. Zimmerman and Vera Hill Zimmerman of Pittsfield preceded him. Mr. Zimmerman was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was tirelessly. devoted to the health and happiness of his family. He par­ticipated on numerous boards and non-profits throughout his 46-year professional career as an automobile dealer in Freeport, Illinois. He retired to New Mexico where he enjoyed spending time with his family, golf­ing, hiking, canoeing and studying the art and culture Of the area as well as continuing to volunteer his time and knowledge to help support his' community. A memorial service will be held Aug. 21, 3 p.m. at French Mortuary Chapel, ,on Wyoming Blvd in Albuquerque. VINCENT M. ZIMMERMAN , 91 of Pittsfield passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield. He was born June 22, 1919 in Pittsfield, IL, a son of Guy F. and Myrtle Binns Zimmerman. He and Marjorie Weir were married on November 30, 1941 in Hull, IL and she survives. Vincent was owner and partner of Zimmerman Brothers Buick Dealership since 1945 and is the oldest Buick dealership in the United States which is located in the original location in Pittsfield. He was a member of the Pittsfield First Christian Church of Pittsfield since he was 10 years old where he served as a past deacon and was active in the men’s fellowship. Vincent served his country in WWII in the Army Air Corp. as a pilot. He attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL, was a member of the American Legion Post #152, Pittsfield Moose Lodge, Pittsfield Lion’s Club, National Auto Dealers Association and Illinois Auto Dealers Association. He was a founding member and charter member of the Old Orchard County Club where he was an avid golfer. Vincent was an avid bowler and a St. Louis Cardinal’s football fan and enjoyed coin collecting, collecting golf balls, yard work, and attending his grandchildren’s music and sporting events for over twenty years. Vincent had a knack of tinkering and inventing and had a great since of humor. Surviving is his wife, Marjorie and two sons, Randall (Cheryl) Zimmerman of Griggsville and Rick (Diane) Zimmerman of Pittsfield, four grandchildren, Tyler (Sherry) Zimmerman of Bonners Ferry, ID, Shanna (Kelly) Smith of Windsor, CO, Jami (Jason) Otke of Sunrise Beach, MO and Cory (Michael) McCellan of Chesterfield, MO. Six great grandchildren, Morgan and Grace Smith, Shaelyn and Skyler Vincent Zimmerman, Weston Zimmer Otke and Carter Leigh McCellan also survive along with two sisters, Wanda (Gene) Hutter of Quincy and Carolyn (Phil) Casteel of Pittsfield. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Zimmerman, sister, Mrs. Juanita Grigsby and a nephew, Kenneth Eugene Hutter. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Pittsfield First Christian Church with Michael TenEyck officiating. Interment will be in the Pittsfield West Cemetery with military graveside rites being accorded by the Pittsfield American Legion Post #152. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.

FRANCIS M. ZUMWALT - Died of consumption, March 31, 1893, Francis M. ZUMWALT, aged 18 years and 8 months, youngest son of Nathan H. and Elizabeth J. ZUMWALT, of Nebo, grandson of Mrs. H. A. HARLOW, and nephew of J. F. McCOY. The funeral services were conducted by F. H. LEWIS at the Baptist church of Martinsburg , 11 a.m. Sunday, April 2, and the remains interred in the Burbridge cemetery. A large number of relatives, friends and citizens were in attendance at the funeral. There was also a large congregation at the Christian church which took a recess and joined the funeral at the other church, throwing two large audiences together, which is unusual on the Sabbath in Martinsburg.

HOMER ZUMWALT , 87, 2669 Lincoln Park Drive, Galesburg, died at 2:10 p.m. April 25, 2010 in his home. He was born July 5, 1922 in Nebo, Ill., the son of Alonzo and Ruby Sidwell Zumwalt. He married Ida Dell Kinnamon on June 23, 1945 in Nebo. Surviving are his daughter, Gail (and Barry) Swanson of Galesburg, a brother, Wayne Zumwalt, a granddaughter, Lara (and Fletcher) Wilson, two grandsons, Luke (and Julie) Swanson, and Matthew Swanson, and four great grandchildren, Fleet and Grace Wilson and Foster and Banks Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Philip Zumwalt. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a company commander at Great Lakes Naval Station. He received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Education from Western Illinois University and his master’s degree from Colorado State University. He also attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He was a teacher of Industrial Education at Galesburg High School for nine years. He was a design engineer at Admiral, Rockwell International, Magic Chef, and Maytag Corporations. He holds numerous refrigeration design patents which he created while in the employ of those corporations. He traveled extensively to all parts of the globe and helped to establish multiple refrigeration plants in South America, Italy and other foreign countries while serving as an international consultant. He served as a city of Galesburg alderman for eight years. He was a faithful member of Central Congregational Church where he served as Clerk for over 41 years. He was a 33rd degree Mason and served the Vesper Lodge as past master. He served that lodge and the Grand Lodge in every imaginable capacity from 1956 to present. He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club. He was commissioned as Honorary Colonel in the Illinois Militia. He was the recipient of numerous Masonic awards and citations and most recently was made a Paul Harris Fellow by the Galesburg Noon Rotary Club. Known to his family and friends as Ho Ho, Homer was a man of great integrity and honesty. His smile and bear hug lit up a room. His commitment to his family, friends, church and the Masonic order will continue to be a shining example to all who knew him. He was a man of honor and the epitome of a member of the Greatest Generation. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Central Congregational Church with Rev. Tom Heather officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Masonic service at 4:45 p.m. Cremation will be accorded with burial later in Pittsfield Cemetery at a later date

TYLER ZUMWALT , 20 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 as a result of a vehicle accident near LaGrange MO. Max was born December 29, 1990 in Pittsfield, IL, a son of Parker and Beth Mitchell Zumwalt. Max was a sophomore at Culver Stockton College in Canton, MO. where he played as a defensive lineman for the Culver Stockton College Football Team. Max was a graduate of the Pittsfield High School Class of 2009 and loved Saukee football and baseball where he was an outstanding athlete. He greatly enjoyed coaching the youth football league and umpiring little league baseball in Pittsfield. He enjoyed bow and firearm deer hunting, shooting blue rocks and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Max especially loved his niece Katie and spending time with her. Max is survived by his parents, Parker and Beth Zumwalt, brother, Trevor (Kriss Reid-fiancé) Zumwalt, and sisters, Tammy (Jarrod) Zumwalt Green, Toyia Zumwalt all of Pittsfield and niece Katie Zumwalt. Additional survivors are his special family, Rick and Tracey Reel and family of Pittsfield, an aunt, Sandra and Lee Richey of Eldred, IL and four cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Parker and Eileen Zumwalt and Jim and Wanda Mitchell. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield, IL. with Pastor Michael TenEyck and Pastor Don Hannell officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL. Interment will be in the West Cemetery in Pittsfield.
