Carl M. Landis

Carl M. Landis, 84, of Olmsted died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Anna, Ill., son of James and Maggie Phillips Landis.

He was an evangelistic minister, serving several churches in Southern Illinois. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He had been employed by the Furst-McNess Feed Company as a field manager in Freeport, Ill.

Survivors include five sons, Carl E. Landis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Chester L. Landis of Phoenix, Ariz., William E. Landis of Bradley, Ill., Larry W. Landis of Huntley, Ill., and Calvin L. Landis of DuQuoin, Ill.; three brothers, Jack Landis of Vienna, Ill., and Leonard Landis and Floyd Landis, both of Anna; five sisters, Edna Vines, Jerry Hardway and Onieda Davis, all of Anna, Judy Yancy of New Madrid, Mo., and Anna May Striklend of Louisiana; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak, Ill.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Hardway officiating. Burial will be at the Ebenezer Hall Cemetery in Lick Creek, Ill. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Anna VFW Post.
