Marion Inez Alltop

Marion Inez Alltop, 79, a resident of ASTA Care Center, Pontiac, died at 2:40 a.m. Wednesday (March 19, 2003) at the care center

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, the Rev. James O. Wolfe III officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the music programs of local schools.

She was born Dec. 25, 1923, in Kenton, Tenn., a daughter of Oscar and Elizabeth House Beshear. She married Eugene Arnold in 1945, in Mayfield, Ky. She later married Norman W. Lamb Sept. 22, 1951, at Pontiac. She later married Joseph L. Alltop on June 26, 1981. They all preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, William Scott (Sharon) Arnold and Jack L. Arnold, both of Pontiac; two daughters, Karen L. (Randy) Lamb Sheets, Victoria; and Amy L. Lamb Lee, Pontiac; eight grandchildren, Julie Arnold, Michael Scott Arnold, Tony Hjerpe, Robert Lamb, Patrick Burks, Norman Burks, Randy Lee and Travis Lee; and 12 great-grandchildren.

One brother, Maurice; two sisters, Madge and Muriel; and one daughter in infancy, Brenda C. Lamb, preceded her in death.

She worked in a military defense plant in Mayfield, Ky., during WWII. She was later employed as a hostess at the Palamar Supper Club, the New Log Cabin and Baby Bulls Restaurant, all in Pontiac.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Streator. She was a graduate of Karnak (Illinois) High School. She was an accomplished musician and song-writer and performed with several county western bands in the area in the 60s and 70s. She loved God, her family and country music.
