John A. Britt, Sr.

NEOGA - John A. Britt, Sr., 73, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 1:15 P. M., Friday, March 24, 2006, in his residence. 

John was born August 8, 1932, in Villa Ridge, Illinois, the son of Arthur Harry and Elsie Nora ( Copeland ) Britt. Mr. Britt served in the United States Navy Reserve from February 2, 1950 to August 7, 1953. He was retired from the American Motors Corporation after several years of employment. John married Etta M. Myers on June 2, 1951 in Waukegan, Illinois and Mrs. Britt passed away January 30, 2005. John and his wife Etta enjoyed camping and sitting around the camp fire and visiting with other campers. 

Mr. Britt leaves two sons, John A. Britt, Jr., and his wife Betty of Omaha, Nebraska, and Paul E. Britt of Omaha, Nebraska; one daughter, Jane Marie Morgan and her husband John of Joliet, Illinois; one brother, William Britt and his wife Jean of Kenosha, Wisconsin; one grandson, Quentin Morgan of Joliet, Illinois; one great granddaughter, Chloe Morgan of Joliet, Illinois; and a very close personal friend, Donna Dimmick of Joliet, Illinois. Mr. Britt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Etta M. Britt; four brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to the family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M., Tuesday, March 28, 2006, in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. Lisa Taylor of Mattoon, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery of Neoga, Illinois.
