Lucille Burkett

Mother Lucille Burkett, age 84, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 31, 2004.

 Family hour 11am Saturday, February 7, 2004 at True Light Missionary Baptist Church, 6917 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing immediately at 12 Noon. Pastor Robert Rushing officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd.

 Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11am Saturday. Mother Burkett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed after 10AM Friday. 

Mother Lucille Burkett was born May 22, 1919 in Mounds, Illinois, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. James and Mary Dudley. 

Mother Lucille Burkett leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Pearl and Eleanor Burkett, both of Flint; son, Leonard (Vera) Burkett of Burton, MI; (family of the late Rev. Marcellus Burkett); step-son, Albert Burkett; 25 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Modie Rankin of Flint; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Dudley of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including the True Light family.

 Mother Burkett was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James and Mary Dudley. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. McCardo and the staff at Genesys Hospice (Angels of Mercy).
