Woodrow G. "Woody" Brown
Woodrow G. "Woody," age 59, of Tulsa, OK, Master Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy Retired, at peace in God's arms Sunday, September 7, 2003 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the dearly beloved husband of C. Gayle Brown; dearly beloved son of Olive M. Brune (nee Hudgens) and the late Woodrow Brown; beloved stepson of the late Jack F. Brune; beloved son-in-law of Rita Vines and the late Arthur Vines; beloved father of Robert Moore, Chief Petty Officer Franklin and Kristine Tiongco, Alicia Modena (nee Brown), Charmaine Brown, and Ryan Brown; beloved grandfather of Calvin, Anna, Sara and Lori; beloved brother of Bruce and Lynda Brown, Susan and Mark Lang, and the late Robert A. Brown; loving uncle and great uncle, nephew, cousin and cherished friend to many, he will be greatly missed. Woody retired in 1991 after 30 years of distinguished and honorable service in the United States Navy. Among many medals and commendations during his service, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. Woody served 2 tours in Vietnam at Da Nang Air Base in the Navy SeaBees as well as in the Persian Gulf and the Philippines. His integrity, loyalty and love of his country were an inspiration to all who knew him. After his retirement, he worked at WFF for 9 years as Facilities Manager. He was most recently with Route 66 Harley for 3 years as the Sales Manager, where in June of this year a new flag pole was erected and dedicated to Woody. Visitation will be at Moore Funeral Home, Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st (between Memorial and Mingo on the south side), Tulsa, OK on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 from 6-8 p.m., and funeral service with military honors will be on Thursday, September 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. Graveside service with military honors will be on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 1 p.m. in Pulaski, IL, Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or cancersucks.com would be most appreciated. Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 663-2233.
