Jackie A. Evans, Sr.

Mr. Jackie A. Evans, Sr., 59, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.

Mr. Evans was born January 3, 1949 to Grace (Blackful) Evans and the late James H. Evans in Mounds, Illinois.

Mr. Jackie A. Evans was a faithful employee of the Union Pump Company in Battle Creek, Michigan for 17 years.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his father, James H. Evans and two brothers, Joseph Blackamore and Melvin Blackamore. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Grace (Blackful) Evans; sisters, Linda (Carey) Whitfield and Pat Vernon; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Blackamore, all of Battle Creek; sister-in-law, Edna Blackamore of Chicago, IL; a brother, Michael (Dara) Evans also of Battle Creek; sons, Jackie A. Evans, Jr. of Huntsville, AL, Priest A. Evans and James A. Evans, both of Battle Creek; daughters, Julia Evans and Sherrie A. Evans, both of Battle Creek and Janice (Nikki) Henderson of St. Lucie, UT; 4 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, January 28, 2008 from 5 pm-8 pm at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home located at 105 Capital Ave. NE.

 Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at Maranatha Original Church of God, 400 Waubascon Road. Family hour will be 12 pm-1 pm with Pastor Keith McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the college fund at "Omni Credit Union" for Mr. Evans' son, James.
