John Edwards
John Deluther Edwards, born February 4, 1912 in Ullin, Illinois, died June 19, 2004 in Lansing. He was 92. Mr. Edwards grew up in Illinois but spent more than 50 years in Lansing. He retired in 1977 after 20 years of work with the City of Lansing, and for decades was an active member of Trinity A.M.E. church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Jonada Edwards, as well as two siblings, Joan Holiday and Lloyd Edwards. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 44 years, Maxine Edwards of Lansing; one daughter; Barbara J. Nichols; four stepchildren; Marcia (Warren) Gaskin; Leonard R. (Cordree) McConnell; Barry (Wanda) McConnell and Alison (Rachel) McConnell; six sisters; Nettie Young; Dorothy Murray, Hazel Eason, Shirley Henderson, Rose Robinson and Verna Solari; and one brother, Ershel Henderson. He is also survived by and one grandson; John Virgil Russell; three great grandchildren; Romero, Sean and Ralphfleto; a host of other grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and special friends. Visitation for Mr. Edwards will be Friday, June 25 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Riley Funeral home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at Trinity A.M.E. Church, with Rev.
