Bertha H. Hinman

 Bertha H. Hinman, 79, of Mound City died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.

She was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Mound City, daughter of Charles and Katherine "Kitty" Walls. She married John Richard Hinman Sr., who died in 1998.

She had worked at Mound City Canning Factory several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mound City Chapter Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, Pulaski County VFW Post 8891 Ladies Auxiliary, and Mound City Woman's Club. She was a 4-H leader 27 years and was active in the Democratic Party.

Survivors include two daughters, Katherine "Kathy" Wilburn of Barlow, Ky., Barbara Stone of Lowell, IN .; four sons, John Hinman Jr. of Springfield, MO., Clyde Hinman of Mound City, Roy Hinman of Dyersburg, TN., James "Tommie" Hinman of Mound City; a sister, LaWanda Beasley of Paducah; a brother, Carl Walls of Whittier, CA.; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, three sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City after 6 p.m. today, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be conducted at 8 tonight by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Archie Buckingham officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery.
