Curtis C. "Brownine" Knight
Curtis C. "Brownie" Knight, 67, of Cottage Hills, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Deaconness Hospital, St. Louis, following an illness of a month. Employed at Alton Box Board, he retired in 1977 after 33 years of service. A son of the late Samuel and Myrtle (Staton) Knight, he was born in Pulaski County, and married the former Mary Pace on June 21, 1942, in St. Charles, MO. In addition to his wife, surviving are five daughters, Mary Lou Neese, Lois Knight and Jean Knight, all of Cottage Hills, Diane Robinson of East Alton and Cheryl Knight of Alton; three sons, Samuel of Meadowbrook, Dean of Elsberry, MO, and James of Bay City, MI; 14 grandchildren; and three brothers, Dallas and Samuel, both of Alton, and Alvin of Grafton. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home, Bethalto, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Paul King officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey, and the Cottage Hills Baptist Church has been named as a memorial. Submitted by: Donna (Dailey) Knight
