Ken Ledbetter

Ken Ledbetter, 51, of Ullin, died Sunday, May 16, 2004, in an automobile accident on U. S. 51 north of Mounds.

He was born March 16, 1953, in Anna, the son of M. A. & Ruth (ODLE) Ledbetter.

Ken was well known in the Ullin area as a self - employed carpenter, painter, and handyman for many years. He was currently the Democratic precinct committeeman for Ullin and served as Ullin Village clerk. He had been police chief of Mound City and night watchman at CGB. He attented St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City and was an avid gardener and deer hunter.

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Ledbetter of Ullin; two sisters, LaVerne Schalmer of Wood River and Phyllis Sanchez and husband Frank of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Jess Ledbetter and wife Martha & Dub Ledbetter and wife Cheri, all of Ullin; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Services for Ken Ledbetter will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with Monsignor Bill McGhee officiating. Interment will be in the Ullin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin.
