Lamont Lewis

Mr. Lamont Donzell Lewis, age 50, of Cairo, IL died Tuesday, November 18, 2003. He was born August 9, 1953 in Cairo. He was the youngest son of 9 children. His father-stepfather, a brother, and a sister preceded him in death.

He attended public school and graduated from Cairo High School. He was baptized at an early age and was of the Baptist faith.

Lamont never married and did not have any children. He was a joy to everyone that came in contact with him and was fondly called Monty.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Dorothy M. Lewis-Pratt: 3 brothers, Norman Lewis, Cleveland, OH; William (Judy) Ford Jr. Champaign, IL; Pastor Fred Ford, Paducah, KY; 4 sisters, Louise Graves and Lynett Brown of Cairo, IL, Janice Lewis, Cape Girardeau, MO, and Vicky Dale of Lexington, KY; two special friends, Marsha Davis and Mary Holden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services were held at Cairo High School Gym Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003. Visitation was from 10a.m. until time of service at 12, Bishop Paul L. H. Jones officiated. Interment was in Green lawn Memorial  Gardens, Villa Ridge, IL.

Heavenly Gates Funeral Home, Cairo, was in charge of arrangements.
