Michael K. Lawler Sr., 76, of Mounds died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Villa Ridge, Ill., son of Patrick and Della Callis Lawler.

He was district manager with Commonwealth Insurance in Cairo, Ill., 35 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mounds, Cairo Elks Lodge 651, American Legion in Villa Ridge, and Smiles Senior Citizen Center in Mounds.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; a son, Michael Lawler of Mounds; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Herring officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
