Sylvia "Billie" Lewis

Sylvia "Billie" Lewis, 77, died Friday, April 11, 2003 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at White Church Cemetery with Reverend Rex Mauldin officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.

Billie was born August 24, 1925 in Mound City, IL to William Sylvester and Clara Annabell McClain Thomas. She married Herman C. "Hopper" Lewis on May 21, 1951 in Clyde. She was a member of the Trent First United Methodist Church. Billie was a seamstress for Walls Manufacturing and Rita Barber Inc. She was a cook for Truckotel at Trent, a farmer, rancher and homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing and hunting.

Survivors include her husband, Herman C. "Hopper" Lewis of Trent; a daughter, Evelyn Stanford and husband, Jerry of Flora, IL; a sister, Dorothy Wade of Anson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Lee McCormick.
