Wilbert Gene Meals

Mr. Wilbert Gene "Bomber" - Age 61, passed away Saturday, November 20, 1999. 

Family hour 12 Noon Saturday, November 27, 1999 from the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 501 W. York, with funeral service commencing immediately at 1:00PM. Pastor Earl Willis officiating.

 Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12 Noon Saturday. Mr. Meals will lie in state in the Chapel of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed after 12Noon Friday. 

Mr. Wilbert Gene "Bomber" Meals was born July 21, 1938 in Ullin, IL to the union of Lucille and James Meals and had been a resident of Chicago for 40 years. He was employed as the youngest El Train Operator at the Chicago Transit and was also a self employed auto broker. Mr. Meals moved from Chicago and had been a resident of Flint for 7 months. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church of Flint where Rev. E.L. Willis is the Pastor. He was an Honorable Discharged Veteran of the U.S. Army. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Bertha Meals; 3 daughters, Deborah G. Rucker; Stephanie L. Williams and Regena M. Sledge all of Chicago; 1 granddaughter; 6 grandsons; 4 sisters, Dorothy Meals of Chicago, James Etta (Kenneth) Lagrone of Unity, IL; Arneta R. Ellis of Chicago, and Janiece Crayton of Flint; 7 brothers, Gerald of Chicago, Stan, Rev. Earl L., and Cranston Willis all of Flint, Elde (Kim) of East Moline, IL; Verneil and Robert Willis both of Flint; 2 uncles, Archie Summers and Freelon Threkeld Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Mr. Meals was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Willis; father, James Meals; step father, L.D. Willis; grandparents and sister, Rovena. 

The family would like to express special thanks to the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church Family, Mrs. Porter and Staff, the Genesee Council of the Blind and many who helped along the way.
