John Logan Parker
John Logan Parker, 82, of North Chicago passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, IL. He was born April 23, 1922 in Grand Chain, Illinois to the late George and Essie (nee Crossland) Parker. John became a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in 1965 where he served faithfully in the senior choir. He was also a member of the community choir and was a volunteer for "Meals-on-Wheels" for many years. John served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center where he retired from Federal Civil Service in 1988. John leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Sammie Parker of North Chicago, IL; a son, Jon (Carolyn) Parker of California; two daughters, JoAnne (Ernest) Brewton and Myrtle (James) White Jr. both of Waukegan, IL; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Parker of California, Dexter and Marcus Parker both of Peoria, IL; two sisters, Cecelia and Tanya Parker both of Peoria, IL; and several cousins including Willabell Williams, Betty (Donald) Hall Lawton, Sam Hall, John (Joan) Hall and Rolland Hall all of Galesburg, IL, Geraldine Mitchell of Peoria, IL and Louise (Jim) Porter of Waterloo, IA; also several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a grandchild; and a great grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at the Mt. Sinai Institutional Baptist Church, 2401 Argonne Drive, North Chicago, IL with Pastor Gerald Wilcoxon officiating. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories Cemetery, North Chicago, IL.
