Morrill E. "Gene" Parmley Sr.

Morrill E. "Gene" Parmley Sr., 76, husband of Dorothy E. (Hinkle) Parmley, a longtime Phoenixville resident, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in the Parkhouse Providence Pointe in Upper Providence.

Born in Mounds, Illinois, he was a son of the late Morrill T. and Dorothy A. (Varner) Parmley.

He was a longtime Phoenixville resident.

Mr. Parmley was discharged from the United States Army in 1948 and went to work at the former A.C. Roberts Meat Packing Co. in Kimberton. He remained employed there as a foreman until its closing.

He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Pottstown Hunting Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, bowler and card player. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed trips to the casino with his wife.

He is survived by four sons, Barry Parmley and his wife Carole of Harleysville, Morrill "Gene" Parmley Jr. and his wife Rovena, of Spring City, Wayne Parmley and his wife Kathy, of Arnot and Brian Parmley and his wife Debbie, of McVeytown; three daughters, Barbara McDonald and her husband Edward, of West Chester, Kathleen Kraft, of Phoenixville and Donna Gottshall and her husband Brian, of Pottstown, a brother, James Parmley and his wife Judy, of Granger, Ind., and a sister, Barbara Seaton, of Osceola, Ind.

He was also "Pop" to his 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service from the Devlin-Rosmos-Kepp Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Main Street at Fourth Avenue, Phoenixville on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Ensminger will officiate.

Burial will be in Green Tree Cemetery in Oaks.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made sent the Residents' Welfare Fund at Parkhouse Providence Pointe, 1600 Black Rock Road, Royersford, PA, 19468.
