Eugene Rose, 80, of Flossmoor, Ill., died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, in Chicago Heights, Ill. He was formerly of Cairo.
He had owned and operated a trucking company. He was part owner in trucking operations in Southern Illinois with his brothers before moving to the Chicago area. He was a member of Flossmoor Community Church.
He was a semi-pro baseball player in his youth.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ruth Nadine Jackson; a daughter, Cynthia Rose of Matteson, Ill.; a sister, Arlene Rose of Cape Girardeau; and a brother, W. M. Rose of Cairo.
A memorial service was held Oct. 24 at Flossmoor Community Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill. The Rev. Kelly Cox will officiate.
Ryan Funeral Home in Homewood, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
