John Henry Ringgold

John Henry Ringgold, age 75, of Waukegan, IL, passed away May 2, 2005 at Lake Forest Hospital. 

He was born in Villa Ridge, IL May 8, 1928.

He was a retired serviceman having served 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a former member of the Ward Memorial C.O.G.I.C. in Waukegan, and a member of the Eternal Flame AME Church in North Chicago. He was also a member of the American Legion, and retired from the Civil Service after 20 years. His most recent occupation was that of a Security Officer with Burns Security.

Survivors include his wife, Justice M. Ringgold; sons, Darrell E. of Waukegan, IL, Keith L. of New Orleans, LA, and John C. of Carmichael, CA, and a daughter, Jarilynn D. (Robert) Berglund of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Bessie Davis of Waukegan, IL, Arlene Pickens and Hattie Paige, both of Chicago, IL; two sisters-in-law, Leoma Ducksworth of Chicago, IL, and Charlene (Will) Hickman of Decatur, IL; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence (Florence) Roddy of Paducah, KY, and Austin Roddy of Houston.TX; 12 grandsons; one granddaughter; and 15 great-grandchildren. A very dear neice, Sylvia (Charles) Blackshear of Waukegan, IL; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and a close family friend, Sylvia M. Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rosie Ringgold, and a son, Jarold E. Ringgold.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 9, 2005, 1:00 PM at the BRADSHAW & RANGE FUNERAL HOME 2513 Dugdale Road, Waukegan, IL, with Elder L.Z. Bonds, officiating.

Interment in Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL. Visitation 12:00 Noon until time of service.
