Robert "Bob" Shearer, 75, of Grand Chain died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
He was born July 25, 1930, in Olmsted, Ill., son of James and Eddie Calhoun Shearer. He and Shirley Vick were married Nov. 11, 1951.
He retired as a shift supervisor at EEI. He was a member of Heartland Worship Center in Paducah, Ky.
He served with the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne.
Survivors include five daughters, Vicky Coffey of Urbana, Dianne Hussong of Humboldt, Ill., Beth McClain of Kelso, Mo., Karen Wilson of Karnak, Ill., Amy Wagner of Romeoville, Ill.; two sons, Alan Shearer of Whitinsville, Mass., Mike Shearer of Grand Chain; two sisters, Tootsie Johnson of Metropolis, Ill., Edith Copeland of Hays, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and two sisters.
Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Ohio Chapel Church in Grand Chain, with the Rev. Don Young officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
