Taken From the Putnam Record
August 24, 1899

Says the Henry Times of August 18: John McNabb has named his new town, southeast of Granville, McNabbville. It will be located five miles west of Lostant and, in all probability, an elevator will be among the first acquisitions. The farmers of that unusually fertile farming country are quite jubilant over the prospect of having a nearby market for their cereals, and are cooperating with Mr. McNabb in every way to make the proposed town a go. The new road will pass within about three miles of Magnolia on the north - so near and yet so far.
