Circuit Court

The case of Miller vs Webster was dismissed in the circuit court yesterday, through the skill of J.T. Kenworthy, attorney for defendant, on a technical point.[Source: The Argus, Rock Island IL, October 3, 1885 ; MB, tr. by FoFG]

Another damage suit was entered for trial at the next term of the circuit court, J.E. Oterman asking $5,000 of Godfried Knockenmus for alleged damages done to his wife, Christine Asterman, by the defendant's vehicle while passing that of plaintiffs on a dark night.  Charles J. Asterman puts in a claim of $1,500 for injuries claimed to have received on the same occasion.  The parties are from the Moline bluff. Another Husband Deserts: Elva vs. George W. Cope, Rock Island.  Married at Table Grove, Ill., May 19, 1900.  Separated June 1, 1901.  One child.  Desertion.  G.W. McCaskrin is attorney.
Wants Maiden Name Restored: Delia vs. William H. Spencer, Rock Island.  Married at Marshalltown, Ia., Oct 30, 1901.  Separated May 27, 1902.  Desertion.  Complainant asks to be restored to her maiden name, Delia Howard.  G.W. McCaskrin is attorney.
Husband has been Cruel:  Josie vs. William H. Sammon, East Moline.  Married Aug 14, 1888.  Cruelty and desertion.  Searle & Marshall are attorneys.
