DEATH CLAIMS MRS. KOESTER
Rock Island Resident 25 Years Dies of Heart Ailment After Extended Illness
Mrs. Anna L. Koester, 65 years old, widow of William D. Koester and a resident
of the city 35 years, died at 11:40 o'clock this morning in her home, 4124 Ninth street, Rock Island. Death was
due to a heart ailment of which she had suffered for the past year. She had been seriously ill two months.
Mrs. Koester, whose maiden name was Miss Anna L. Nelson, was born Sept. 18, 1870,
in Edgington township, the daughter of Ezekiel and Lucinda White Nelson. She received her education in the schools
there and in Des Moines, Iowa, where she moved with her parents when 8 years old.
She resided in Des Moines for 20 years, moving to Rock Island 35 years ago to
make her home. She was married in October, 1902, in Rock Island to William D. Koester. He preceded her in death
May 3, 1925. Mrs. Koester was a member of Gloria Dei United Presbyterian church, Rock Island, and district No.
6, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Surviving are two sons, J. Franklin Koester at home, and W. Paul Koester of Rock
Island; two brothers, John Franklin and George W. Nelson, both of Rock Island, and a grandson.
The body was removed to the Knox funeral home pending funeral arrangements.
