Mary M. Brown
Beardstown - Mary M. Brown, 76, of Beardstown died Monday, Aug. 2, 1999, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 2, 1923, in Beardstown, the daughter of Walter
Wayne "Joe" and Cora Hierman Aten. She married Robert LeRoy Brown in
1942 in Palmyra; he died in 1986.
Mrs. Brown was a 1941 graduate of Beardstown High School. She
was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown and the Altar
Society. She volunteered many hours for Christian Love in Action in
Beardstown.
She owned and operated a beauty shop in her home for over 25 years, retiring in 1975.
Survivors: three sons, Bob (wife, Ruth Ann) Brown of Beardstown,
Joe Brown of Key Largo, Fla., and Patrick Brown of Orlando, Fla.; a
daughter, Cindy (husband, Butch) Hobrock of Beardstown; four grandsons;
and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Mass, 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Alexius Catholic Church,
Beardstown, the Rev. Eugene Weitzel officiating. Burial: Beardstown
City Cemetery.

Robert Bubb
Ipava - Robert E. Bubb, 82, of 230 W. South St. died at 10:30
a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born July 25, 1919, in Ipava to Franklin and Ruth Ellen
Robertson Bubb, he married Helen Hulvey on Aug. 15, 1948, in Table
Grove. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Edwin (and Lynn) of Quincy and
Stanley (and Jayme) of Macomb; three daughters, Margo Bubb of
Rocheport, Mo., Mrs. Mike (Emily) Hollenback of Ipava and Mrs. David
(Annette) Hull of Mason City; one brother, Raymond of Ipava; seven
grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
A former member of Ipava American Legion Post 17, he was a World
War II Army veteran, serving with the mechanized cavalry.
He was a carpenter with Bubb Bros. Construction for more than 40 years.
He also coached baseball and softball in the Ipava area for many years.
He was a member of Ipava Christian Church, where he served as a trustee, elder, board chairman and deacon.
He was a former member of Ipava Volunteer Fire Department.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at his church. The Rev.
Tracy Armstrong will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial will be in Ipava
Cemetery.

Rushville - Theodore H. "Ted" Burnside, 57, of Quincy, formerly
of Rushville, died at 2:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 1992, at St. Mary's
Hospital in Quincy.
He was born July 4, 1934, in Rushville to Henry R. and Freida Brown Burnside.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue Kirkham of Rushville and Laura
Osmer of Augusta; one brother, Thomas of Chesterfield, Mo.; one sister,
Virginia Prather of Rushville; and six grandchildren. One sister
preceded him in death.
He farmed in Schuyler County and was working at Fierge's Auto Parts in Quincy at the time of his death.
He was an Army veteran and a member of Quincy Community Social Club.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Rushville Free Methodist
Church, the Rev. Wayne Bonser officiating. Visitation will be from 7 to
9 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rushville
City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Rushville Free Methodist Church.
Obituary of Ida Gragg Belville Butler
Died: March 1959
Mrs. Ida Butler, 89, a lifetime resident of Browning community, died late Thursday in the Culbertson hospital.
Mrs. Butler was born March 22, 1869 in Schuyler county to Joseph
and Margaret Kirkham Gragg. She was married first to Sherman Belville,
who died in 1920. She later married Emmet Butler, who died in 1946. She
was a member of the Browning Methodist church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Skiles, and a son Giles
Belville, both of Browning; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Newell of Beardstown
and Mrs. Polly Hollenback of Browning; a half sister, Mrs. Eva Richard
of Hannibal; a half brother Jay Gragg of Appleton, Wis., .... Three
sons, Elmer, Eddie and James and one sister are deceased.
Burial in Ridgeville cemetery near Browning.

Browning - Cecil R. Cable, 95, of rural Browning died at 9:50
p.m. Monday, June 17, 1996, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven in Rushville.
Born Dec. 27, 1900, in Sawyer, Kan., to Isaac and Etta Metzger
Cable, he married Ruth S. Miller on Nov. 25, 1920, in Bader. She died
Dec. 24, 1987.
He also was preceded in death by one son, Charles, two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gail (Erma) Geiman of Browning;
four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson;
three brothers, Lester of Clio, Mich., Ralph of Delphi, Ind., and Paul
of Camden, Ind.; and two sisters, Emma Allen of Burton, Mich., and Anna
Bell Cable of Camden.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
He was a member of Mud Valley German Baptist Church near
Astoria, where services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. Elders Orvel Gish and
Arthur Cook will officiate. There will be no formal visitation. Friends
may call after 2 p.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria.
Burial will be in Mud Valley Cemetery.

Velma Carey
Peoria Heights - Velma A. Carey, 86, formerly of Bartonville and
Peoria, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 1996, at Rose Garden
Convalescence Center.
Born March 29, 1910, in Astoria to Stephen Edward and Cora Mae
Danner Parry, she married William Bryan Carey on June 3, 1929, in
Lewistown. He died April 23, 1954, in Kingston Mines.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Beebe, and one brother.
Surviving are one granddaughter, Vicky Kominski of Bartonville,
with whom she made her home for many years; two great-grandchildren;
one brother, Floyd Barry of Morton; and two sisters, Betty Olsen of
Topeka, Ill., and Millie Lannery of Ipava.
She worked at Burgetts Glove Factory in Peoria for 47 years,
retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Christian Church in Peoria.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Davison-Fulton
Bartonville Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services.
The Rev. Karen Merrick will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake
Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Fred Chapman
Rushville - Fred E. Chapman, 88, of Rushville, formerly of
Camden, died at 6:16 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 1992, at Memorial Medical
Center in Springfield.
Born Nov. 11, 1903, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, to John
E. and Lydia Anderson Fetch Chapman, he married Ruth Anderson on June
24, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sonja Ross of Rushville; and
three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two half sisters.
He worked as a custodian at Rushville High School from 1963 to
1969, and farmed until retiring in 1985. He helped organize the
Schuyler County Gun Club and was a member of the Illinois Trapshooting
Association.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home
in Rushville, the Rev. William Hesseldenz officiating. Visitation will
be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the
Rushville City Cemetery.

11:55 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.
Born Aug. 25, 1910, in Rushville Township, Schuyler County, to
Herman and Nellie Rose Anderson, she married Fred E. Chapman on June
24, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa. He died March 21, 1992.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Sonja Ross; two sisters; and six brothers.
Surviving are two grandsons, Dean Ross and Mark Ross, both of
rural Rushville; one granddaughter, Dianne (and Chris) Klitz of rural
Rushville; and one great-grandson.
She worked at the Rushville High School cafeteria for many years.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Worthington Funeral
Home. The Rev. Paul Arnold and Ron Peters will officiate. Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in

Clayton - Amelia Grace "Pebbles" Cope, 53, of Clayton, formerly
of Beardstown and Cordova, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at her home.
She was born Jan. 20, 1948, in Beardstown, the daughter of Herbert Sylvester and Annabelle Amelia Baldwin Icenogle.
She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Allen Emberton.
Mrs. Cope attended Beardstown schools.
Survivors: mother, Annabelle Smith; a son, Jason Keith Ruyle of
Springfield; a daughter, Janet J. Emberton of Clayton; six
grandchildren; two brothers, Randall Keith Cromwell of Beardstown and
Jerry Rohn of Peoria; two sisters, Alice DeFawn Brown of Cordova and
Teresa Kay Walker of Lafayette, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.

Two Deaths in Oakland
David Copes of Oakland died on Wednesday of last week of typoid
{Typhoid} fever, and it is truly a home of sorrow, as the wife and
eldest daughter, Eunice, are ill of the same disease. The
following obituary has been furnished The Times:
David Dodds Copes, son of James and Sarah Copes, was born in
Bainbridge township, Oct. 24, 1880, and died in Oakland township, Nov.
2, 1910, of typhoid fever.
He was united in marriage to Miss Grace Sowers, Dec. 15,
1905. To this union were born two daughters, Eunice Fay and Louis
{Lois} Cecil, with with the sorrowing wife, father and mother, two
brothers, Clinton and Burton, two sisters, Mae and Esther, survive to
mourn their loss, besides many other friends and relatives.
David was a kind and dutiful son, a loving husband and
father. He had a warm heart and loved his neighbors and
friends. He was converted and joined the M. E. church in 1896 and
in the faith he was steadfast. He had now joined the church of
the redeemed. funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 4, at the
Houston M. E. church, conducted by Rev. C. W. Haney. Interment in
the Rushville cemetery.
Obituary of Grace Ann Sowers Copes
Rushville Times, December 8, 1910
Grace Ann Sowers, the fifth child of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Sowers,
was born April 18, 1884, and departed this life Dec. 2, 1910, aged 25
years, 7 months and 16 days.
She was united in marriage of David Dodd Copes Dec. 15, 1906, who preceded her in death just one month.
By her death there is a gloom cast over the entire community,
thus breaking up a happy home and leaving two orphan children - Eunice
Faye, four years of age, and Lois Cecil, six months old, who have the
sympathy of the entire community in this sad bereavement.
The deceased united with the Christian church at Ray when
eighteen years of age and has lived a good christian. She was a
kind, loving mother and dutiful daughter. Near the end she bid
her sisters good bye; told them she was ready to die and for them to
meet her in heaven.
This is the first death in a family of fifteen children, well
respected in this community. Besides her children, she leaves a
father, mother, ten brothers and four sisters, besides many relatives
and friends.

neighbors for their kindness during our sad bereavement. - parents of

Obituary of Sarah Celina Waugh Copes

Sarah Celina Waugh was born in Christian county, Ill., June 24,
1852, and passed to her eternal reward on the morning of April 10,
1921, at 8 o'clock at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 12 days.
She had been afflicated with organic heart trouble and other
complications for some time, which resulted in her death.
She was married in January, 1880, to James Copes, in Bainbridge
township, Schuyler county, Ill. To this union were born five
children - three boys and two girls: David, who departed this life Nov.
2, 1910; Mrs. Charles Gruel, Clinton, Bert and Mrs. Oscar Aten, all of
Vermont, Ill., who, with the husband, a cousin, Sarah L. Branson, eight
grandchildren, and a host of friends are left to mourn her departure.
She was converted when just a young girl and joined the
Methodist Episcopal church at Rushville, and later cast her membership
with the class at Houston, of which church she remained a faithful
member until called to the home prepared for her.
Mother Copes had many cares and duties to perform in later life,
consisting of the care of an afflicted husband; also the rearing
of a granddaughter, little Lois Copes, whom she took at the tender age
of three months. This child was bereft of her father and mother,
and Mrs. Copes was faithful in her tender care of her.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the M. E. church at Ray,
at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Fred Wilson officiating. Interment in the
Rushville cemetery.
Obituary of James Copes

Death of Well-Known Resident
James Copes, for many year a prominent citizen of Oakland
township, died Monday night at the house of his son, Clinton, near
Vermont, in his eighty-third year, following a two-weeks illness.
Mr. Copes was born in County Downs, Ireland, March 7, 1840,
where he resided until the year 1865 when he became possessed with a
desire to emigrate to America and sailed for New York where he remained
six months, and then came to Illinois, locating on a farm in Bainbridge
township, where he remained until the year 1879, when he was united in
marriage to Sarah Selina Waugh, and their home was established in the
same township, where they resided until the year 1884, when they
removed to Oakland township, in which locality he was for many years a
leading and influential citiizen {citizen}.
Since the death of his wife on April 10, 1921, Mr. Copes has
made his home with his children, who today mourn the loss of a loving
father.
During a revival meeting at Oakland Center, Mr. Copes was
converted and united with the church, ever remaining true to his master.
He is survied by four childern, viz.: Mrs. May Gruell, Clinton,
Bert, and Mrs. Esther Aten, one son, David, prececed the father in
death twelve years ago.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Rose, pastor of the
Methodist church at Vermont, was held from the Houston M. E. church on
Wednesday, at one o'clock. Interment in the Rushville cemetery.

Rushville - Donald K. Corbridge, 65, of 407 Silverleaf died at
12:46 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 1994, at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
Born April 16, 1928, in Rushville to Hal F. and Lucy E. Landon
Corbridge, he married Cynthia J. Boyd on Sept. 3, 1950, in Rushville.
She died Sept. 8, 1993. Surviving are one son, David of Jacksonville;
one daughter, Mrs. Todd (Luci) Brewer of Beardstown; one brother, Dr.
Maurice of Rushville; two sisters, Lucile Fetch and Mrs. Maurice
(Doris) Loring, both of Rushville; and three grandsons.
He was a horologist and an insurance agent for many years. He
later was a salesman for several area car dealerships, retiring in
1981. A Korean War Army veteran, he was a member of Schuyler American
Legion Post 4 and Rushville Masonic Lodge 9, AF&AM, where he served
as past master. He also was a member of First Presbyterian Church of
Rushville.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rushville City
Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Jack Volkers will officiate. Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home, with Masonic
services at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to his church or to a charity
of the donor's choice.

Rushville - Dr. Maurice H. Corbridge, 84, of Rushville died at
11:25 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998, at Sndyer's Vaughn-Haven Nursing
Home.
Born Aug. 5, 1913, in Rushville to Hal F. and Lucy E. Landon
Corbridge, he married Audrey Pitt on Sept. 22, 1939, in Chicago. She
died Dec. 13, 1967. He married Maurine Walker Sowers on June 27, 1968,
in Greeley, Colo. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Kyra) Shair of
Champaign and Mrs. David (Margaret) Mejia of Littleton, Colo.; two
sisters, Lucille Fetch and Mrs. Maurice (Doris) Loring, both of
Rushville; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. One brother
preceded him in death.
He attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., and graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Lombard.
He was a practicing chiropractor in Carthage for 21 years. He
later moved to Peoria and opened a Chiropractic office, where he
practiced until retiring in September 1977. He was a volunteer at Glen
Oak Zoo and the Flanagan House, both in Peoria.
He was a member of Hancock Masonic Lodge 20, AF&AM in
Carthage, and was a former member of Peoria Kiwanis Club. He served on
the Carthage School Board.
He also was a member of Carthage Presbyterian Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Peoria.
He was active in Corn Stock Theater in Peoria. A former member
of the Orpheus Club in Peoria, he also was a soloist for weddings and
funerals in the Carthage area.
He was a former member of Peoria Historical Society and Peoria Color Camera Club.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home
in Rushville. The Rev. Scott Henley will officiate. Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville
City Cemetery.

Rushville - Gideon Ray Crenshaw, infant son of Eric and Rebecca
Utter Crenshaw of Rural Route 2, died at 5:09 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16,
1994, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, where he was born two
hours earlier.
Surviving are his parents; one half brother, Christopher at
home; one half sister, Courtney Crenshaw at home; his grandparents,

Bader - Verona L. Crenshaw, 72, of Bader died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at her residence.
She was born July 24, 1930, in Ray, the daughter of Tom and
Venia Chute Hendricks. She married Denver Crenshaw in 1947 in Ray; he
died in 1978.
Mrs. Crenshaw was a homemaker.
Survivors: three sons, Raymond (wife, Georgianna), Jim (wife,
Barbara) and Bill Crenshaw, all of Bader; a daughter, Cheryl (husband,
Mike) Frank of Beardstown; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren;

Beardstown woman, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at her residence.
Born July 24, 1930, in Ray to Tom and Venia Chute Hendricks, she
married Denver Crenshaw on Jan. 17, 1947, in Ray. He died Jan. 8, 1978.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond (and Georgianna), Jim (and
Barbara) and Bill, all of Bader; one daughter, Cheryl (and Mike) Frank
of Beardstown; four brothers, Lyndle (and Betty) Hendricks of Carbon

Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at Culbertson Long Term Care Facility.
Born May 15, 1920, in Ray to James A. and Orpha Abbott Crum, he
married Marguerite B. Rohn on June 16, 1941, in Rushville. She died
July 23, 2000.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne (and Kay) of Rushville and Jim
(and Linda) of Beardstown; one daughter, Colleen (and Ken) Keithley of
Jacksonville; one sister, Edith (and Melvin) Goldsborough of Rushville;
nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb, where he played football.
He taught school in Schuyler County for one year before moving
to Peoria. He then worked as a brakeman for a railroad. He later
returned to Rushville, where he was a farmer.
He had served on the Buena Vista Township Board.
He was a member of Schuyler County Farm Bureau and Schuyler Athletic Club.
He also was a member of Free Methodist Church in Rushville,
where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Revs. Robert
Kirkham, Rosalee Ross and Wayne Bonser will officiate. Visitation will
be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel. Burial will be
in Rushville City Cemetery.

Williamette Wilkerson Davis, he married Vera Hart on April 12, 1949, in
Scott County. She survives.

Sterling and LeRoy of Milan; one sister, Anna Mae Garner of Mount

He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
He was of the Protestant faith.
A former member of Mount Sterling American Legion Post 374, he
was a Korean War Army veteran, serving with the 18th Engineer and
Combat Battalion. He attained the rank of corporal.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hufnagel Funeral Home. The
Rev. Gary Kruzan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight
at the funeral home, where military services will be conducted at 6
p.m. by his American Legion post. Further visitation will be two hours
before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hersman Cemetery
in Hersman.

Herriford, both of Macomb.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ben, Willis, Vernon,
Otis and Donald Derry; one sister, Darlene Waggoner; and one
stepbrother, Jack Parr.
He was a veteran of the United States Marines, World War II,
serving in the Pacific Theater. He farmed in the fulton county area for
years.
He retired as a warehouse manager from Hobart Welders, East
Peoria, and he worked for New Concept Dental Lab in Canton for several
years in public relations and as a driver for the lab.
He was a member of the Summum Christian Church where he was a former Elder.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the
Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria, with Steve Castaneda and Gary Sheets
officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2205, at the Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria.
Burial will be at the Astoria Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Schuyler County, the son of Samuel and Bessie (Engle) Derry.
He is survived by three sons, Walter Derry, Macomb, David Derry,
Longview, Texas, and Tom Derry, Mountain View, Calif.; two daughters,
Peggy Gibson, Combs, Ark., and Julie Cameron, Macomb; 10 grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Violet Sowers, Quad Cities.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Derry.
He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He owned Derry's Trailer Court, Macomb, from 1967-2002.
Cremation has been accorded

He was born May 28, 1922, in Knox County, the son of Nelson
Elwood and Laura Jane (Conard) Derry. He married Muriel Schisler Dec.
23, 1943, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
He is also survived by one son, Brad (Sherry) Derry, Abingdon;
one daughter, Alice Philbee, Abingdon; two brothers, Robert "Bob"
Derry, Galesburg, and Ivan "Sandy" Derry, Berwick; three sisters,
Virginia Swank and Pearl Schisler, both of Abingdon, and Doris Ginther
Kohn, Green Valley, Ariz.; three grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
He farmed with his dad for several years and later worked at the
former Admiral Company in Galesburg for 24 years, where he worked in
the paint shop, on the assembly line and the maintenance department.
He moved to Abingdon in October of 2004 and prior to that had
lived east of Abingdon for 35 years. He enjoyed working on cars, doing
carpenter work, including demolition of area homes and reusing the
building materials, fishing and was an avid collector.
Services were held Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at the
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with Rev. Todd Henderson
officiating.
Burial was in Abingdon Cemetery.

grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
He lived all his life in the Abingdon and Galesburg areas.
He attended Muddy Corner School near Berwick and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
An Army veteran of World War II, he survived Pearl Harbor and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He farmed and worked at the former Gale Products Division of
Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg for 28 1/2 years. He retired
in 1980.
He was of Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 28, in
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with the Rev. Bob Malone
officiating.
Burial was in Silent Home Cemetery near Cameron, with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
A Korean War Army veteran, he was stationed in London.
He farmed for 21 years before working as a foreman at Dana
Foundry in Havana. He retired from Porcelain Products in Macomb after
21 years of service.
He attended Free Methodist Church in Rushville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wood-Roby Funeral
Chapel. The Revs. Robert Kirkham and Rosalee Ross will officiate.

He farmed in Fulton and Knox counties. He also owned and
operated a coal mine in Stark County for many years. He then worked for
Burketta and Pschirrer Coal Co. for 15 years. He last was a
greenskeeper for Canton Country Club.

A World War II Army veteran, he also was a member of Schuyler
American Legion Post 4; Voiture 1100, 40 et 8; Littleton Masonic Lodge
766, AF&AM; and Quincy Consistory. He was a volunteer for Littleton
Fire Department.

she married Edward Geiman in 1935 in Baltimore. He died in 1956. She
married Charles Joseph Geiman in 1957 in Bristol, Tenn. He died Jan. 7,
1981.
She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Audrey Huston; two brothers; and one sister.
Surviving are three daughters, Marie Hickle and Mrs. Raymond
(Margaret) White, both of Vermont, and Mrs. Rodney (Linda) White of
Havana; one son, Stephen (and Marsha) of Manito; one sister, Mildred
Lannery of Ipava; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 15
great-great-grandchildren.
She worked at an aircraft plant in Maryland during World War II.
She later worked for Bemis Bag Co. in Peoria and last was a certified
nurse's aide at Clarytona Manor in Lewistown and for home health
services for several years.
She attended Abundant Life Church in Manito.

Astoria, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Vince

one brother, Norman Lawler of Peoria; and one sister, Eletha O'Neal of
Quincy.
She was a waitress at the Maid-Rite and baked at Streitberger Bakery.
She was a member of the former Pleasant View Methodist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wood-Roby Funeral
Chapel. The Rev. Scott Henley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6
to 8 tonight at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Rushville City
Cemetery.

Thursday, March 27, 1997, at Snyder-Vaughn Haven Nursing Home in
Rushville.
Born Oct. 15, 1905, in Pleasant View to Anthony V. and Laura
Belle Beaty Gragg, he married Lucy Dodds on March 8, 1941, in Palmyra,
Mo. She died Dec. 18, 1991.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are one brother, Robert C. {G.} of Rushville; one niece; and one nephew.
He worked at Bartlow Brothers Packing Co. in Rushville for 17
1/2 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Pleasant View United
Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home
in Rushville. The Rev. Harold Hedden will officiate. Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in

several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother.

Surviving are his parents; one sister, Kasey Grover at home; his
grandparents Maynard and Connie Hulvey of Rushville and Marilyn Grover
of Mount Sterling; and his great-grandmothers Josephine Constable and
Marie Roudebush, both of Rushville.
His grandfather John Grover preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rushville
City Cemetery. The Revs. Robert Belew and Scott Henley will officiate.
There will be no visitation. Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel is in charge of
arrangements.

Born April 5, 1915, in Camden Township to Jesse and Eddness
Daniels Hale, he married Laura Forsythe on Jan. 3, 1940, in Palmyra,
Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Roger of Beardstown and Royal of
Rushville; two daughters, Judy Hamm of Browning and Marilyn Davis of
Rockport; three sisters, Florence Greene and Betty Burton, both of
Colchester, and Charlene Williams of Plymouth, Ind.; and eight
grandchildren.
One son, Mark; one grandson; and four brothers preceded him in death.
Renting his first farm at age 15, he farmed all his life in Schuyler County.
He was a member of Schuyler County Farm Bureau.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home.

p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City

Macomb - Franklin "Bud" Heaton, 69, of Rural Route 3 died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 1992, at his home.
Born Aug. 1, 1923, in Oakland Township, Schuyler County, to Roy
R. and Nellie Morrell Heaton, he married Elizabeth "Babe" Morris on
Nov. 27, 1948, in Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Joe of Rushville, Roger of
Vermont and Chris of Macomb; four sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Nedra) Andrews
of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Mrs. Robert (Marjory) Wherley of Table Grove,
Mrs. Rodney (Louise) Parr of Vermont and Wanda Brown of Macomb; two
brothers, Stanley "Bill" of Industry and Jim of Astoria; five
grandchildren; one step grandchild; and one great-grandchild. One
sister preceded him in death.
He farmed in McDonough County.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Vermont American Legion for more than 25 years.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sargent-Worthington
Funeral Home in Macomb. The Rev. Clint Palmer will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral
home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery, where military rites will be
accorded by Vermont American Legion.

Born May 8, 1914, in Schuyler County to Thomas and Venia Chute
Hendricks, he married Lenora Faith Billingsley on Oct. 20, 1937, in
Schuyler County. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Rosalie D. Kempster, Shirley
M. Morrell and Frances Z. Wolfe, all of London Mills, and Dorothy A.
Davis of Macomb; two sons, Charles A. of Versailles and Allen L. of
Brookfield, Mo.; four brothers, Melvin of Rushville, Thomas Q. of Mount
Sterling, Lyndell of Moline and Marlin of Oklahoma; three sisters, Nina
Merrill of Astoria, Verona Crenshaw of Bader and Juanita Crenshaw of
Jacksonville; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. One brother
and four sisters preceded him in death.
